Heres my core today tried some new things learned my external obliques are extremely week but you can see that in my selfies also still very limited in v sit tried a dynamic swing on dip station and just having a hard time trying to hold that on a few tries. I enjoy recording these I can see that I dont get all the way to floor when I roll out and my side twists aren't very deep even though I feel like I'm doing these perfectly when I'm in the moment. Took a few days to rest after Saturday's event. I find that if I keep moving, I feel soooo much better. Trained in a light to moderate training range, 3x10. What happens when I try too hard to “do it all” – I burn the fudge out! . . . I rarely discuss or view content exploring how incredibly hard it is to achieve CONCURRENT success in multiple life domains. I’d postulate that this is partly because whingey whiners repel most and it’s not a sexy topic! I don’t want to be a moaning Myrtle, but I do want to be real. . . . I wear many 🎩 – wife, doggo-person, therapist, student, daughter, supervisor, friend, co-worker, sister, lifter, health optimiser, instagrammer…etc. . . . I would consider myself to have strong values and morals attached to each and every one of these domains – and all correspond with expectations, demands, and personal standards; and like most, I find myself constantly striving to achieve “success” in a busy life with competing demands. With self-reflection, I’ll generally notice that the more achievement I gain in one domain it can be at a sacrifice of another – for example exponential fitness progress with increased training protocol can result in a sacrifice of quality time and energy inputted into nurturing relationships, professional or academic achievements can result in a sacrifice of energy inputted to physical pursuits – ya get the gist. . . . What has worked for me is mindset exploration and challenging my inner cognitive tendencies towards perfectionism, all-or-nothing mentality, self-critique, and validation seeking (*gold star junky over here!). Instead, on the daily I strive towards balance and synergy, shifting more towards progress over perfection – and regularly self-reflecting individually and with the people around me about how each domain is tracking. Regularly learning, adapting, and shifting. I don’t do this often, and it’s only my personal experience, but I would like to share. If you would have told me even six months ago what a positive impact yoga would have on my life, I would have laughed. I have now been practicing a few months and I have to say, I feel stronger and more relaxed at the same time, each and every time I take a class. I used to force myself to the gym, and it always felt like I was doing something TO myself, instead of FOR myself. Since joining @modoyogabrantford and falling in love with yoga and the community, I feel like I treat myself daily to it. I wake up excited to practice because I know it will feel so good, and the peaceful afterglow that I don’t get anywhere else will last all day. Yesterday started this Gratitude week off instructing a Dance Fitness class for the elderly. For the last month I’ve been teaching their weekly classes and they honestly keep me going! Before I enter I always think, if this were me at 80 or 70 years old, what would I want from an instructor? 1. Loud upbeat music 2. Encouragement SMILES 3. Fun free environment 4. In life comes obstacles, & this obstacle is quite different than the rest! Not long ago I had a mole removed, & received a phone call that I needed to come back. The biopsy was concerning for skin cancer. So, yesterday I went back in for a surgical procedure to remove the entire thing internally to hopefully remove all cancer cells. I left with 12 stitches & cut off from exercise for 2 weeks. It totally bummed me out because I’m only 3 days shy of completing my 3rd program. However, this is more important at the moment! • Sooo, here it is 👉🏼 *swipe* to see my 7 week transformation (instead of 8)! What to do when you fall off the band wagon 👇🏼 . Sometimes we’re crushing it in the gym; calories dialed in and macros on point 👌🏼 . Forging strength, building muscle and shredding fat 💪🏼🔥 . Then, all of a sudden life seems to get in the way and we fall off the band wagon. . The reality is, every super hero needs a crisis - to fall off the bandwagon - to be the catalyst for even greater. . After all, falling down is what makes us human; it’s what we do after that matters. . So here’s what you’re going to do: . 1️⃣ Surrender Accept that we all fail, very rarely is it a straight line to our goals. Now, surrender doesn’t mean give into your cravings and eat all the cake in the world. . It means to accept what is and flow with it. . This is crucial because it allows us to get past the fear of failure and pick ourselves back up. . 2️⃣ Evaluate Once you’ve surrendered you need to evaluate what happened. . ❌ Did you miss your workout because of poor time management? . ❌ Were you driving home from work after a huge day and decided it was easier to go through KFC drive through instead of cook what you had planned for dinner? . ❌ Did you go out with that group of friends that always drinks too much? . ❌ Did you miss your black coffee? . ❌ Were you just having one of those days and just couldn’t be bothered to track your calories and decided to eat donuts all day? . You probably had a good reason to fall off the bad wagon but if you keep rationalising you won’t get back on track towards your goals. . From here you need to figure out a game plan to prevent that from happening again and... . 3️⃣ Execute Action is what gets results, not intent. Once you’ve identified why you fell off the bandwagon you need to execute the game plan. . This could be: . ✅ Batch cooking and freezing meals . ✅ Scheduling your workouts . ✅ Writing a mantra that you recite to yourself when you don’t feel like working out or following your diet. . Another solid gym session today. I wasn't sure how tired my legs would be after the half marathon on Sunday. Surprisingly they were good. This is a little snippet of a set of arm exercises I did, which included barbell press, barbell curl and tricep press. There was no added weight to the barbell, but it was still an effort. I need strong arms for some of the chores I do around my home. Recently I had to lift a 30kg bag of cement mix out of the car. ✖️ Scapular Pushups ✖️ . . . Nooooope I’m not bitching out and doing sissy pushups...these sets are challenging - more challenging in fact than any regular pushies I have ever done. . . . Why ⁉️ . . . They require massive core stability, motor control, and a dickton of mindful execution to isolate and retract middle back. The slower the harder, constant tension from bottom to top. . . . My pelvis has a mind of it’s own, as does my right rotator cuff muscle group - I need to reset my posture every rep. Most reps you will see I realign my pelvis to neutral stance in order to protect my lower back, and retract my scapular/shift my body weight forward to offset loading from my front delts to my back. . . . It has taken months and months of painstaking tutorials, trial and error, and numerous visual and verbal cues, to develop my mind muscle connection to this muscle chain. Yes I’ve cracked the shits numerous times and felt like pitching a hissy fit on the gym floor - it’s frustrating when I movement feels off, and pain is strongly linked to agitation for me 🤬. . . . It’s likely that many years ago I developed a pathological movement pattern causing dysfunctional muscle recruitment, internal rotation, with an end result of repetitive strain injury 🤦🏼‍♀️ . . . It’s likely going to take years to retrain my central nervous system to unconsciously execute an optimal movement pattern, but I’m up for the challenge. Was going to share a leg workout, but thought I’d go with this instead - single arm alternating DB press ~ 20kg 3x16 (8 each arm) felt difficult af but sooo good at the same time! - Bench has always been my weakest & least favourite, so four months ago, I probably wouldn’t have ever thought of picking up 20kg DB, but with all the work that @elitehybridsystems has put in to keep me going and helped me reach my goals, I can 👊🏼 - It’s all a mental game. All you need is a 20 min session once a week for 8 weeks to have almost 50% increase in all the aspects mentioned. I am a Fitness Enthusiast. I do calisthenics and athlete training. 20 min session of BODYTEC was purely challenging and definetly the hardest thing i have done in fitness. My strength has increase after 3 days as I moved from 10 reps of pull ups to 15 reps a set after just one session. I have mentioned before the importance of healthy fats into their diets, however I want to speak about the major role proteins play into their diets. Protein means life, it starts simply by becoming aware that w/o proteins cell formation and regeneration won’t be possible. Every organ of your body, every muscle, tissue, and cell are formed by this macronutrient.
