🌟How to Tone (and Keep Your Curves) 🌟
I can’t keep track of the amount of times I’ve heard women tell me that they “just want to tone.” Many people will resort to lifting light weights for high reps, perform lots and lots of cardio, and eating on a restrictive diet.
So... now that you’re here (hi, hay, hello! 👋🏼)... I’m gonna share the truth 🤓🙋🏼♀️
To achieve the “toned” look, what you *really* need to do is this:
✅ reduce body fat
✅ build muscle
✅ eat in a sustainable way
combine these 3 things... that is your greatest recipe for success. This will help you keep (or gain) some nice curves, aka a “toned” look.
Now let’s talk about how you actually do it...
1️⃣ Prioritize strength training: 2-5x a week. Focus on the big movements: squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts, bench press, pull-ups, push-ups, rows.
2️⃣ Get stronger! This happens by adding weight or reps over time. Lifting heavy will NOT, I repeat WILL NOT, make you bulky.. and yes, I’m specifically talking to you girlfriends! Females have about 1/20th of the amount of testosterone of the average male. You will not gain muscle overnight, I promise.
3️⃣ Eat a diet that’s sustainable for you (like one that you can actually see yourself eating forever), focusing on lean protein, veggies, and adequate carbs!
4️⃣To lean out - you need to eating in a calorie deficit (eat less than you burn in a day).
5️⃣ Or, you could eat an amount of calories that allows you maintain bodyweight (also known as maintenance calories) and realize that underneath your skin, your building muscle and shedding fat!
Now, if you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, that’s totally okay! When I first started, I didn’t know either. Take 1 day at a time, follow the steps above and have yourself a hefty dose of patience. 🚶🏼♀️It’s a marathon, not a sprint!
