So sad and frustrating...if only all GP's could/would spend the time with people to identify their needs, or were aware of where to refer/signpost people on. Sometimes the best thing we can do for another person is just listen. I am so lucky to have a GP who is well informed and who gave me the time I needed to talk through different options when I needed it! I'd already self-referred but decided that I didn't want to/couldn't wait for NHS services, so I found help through a therapist online instead. We also need to let people know where they can do this so they find someone who is appropriately trained, and practicing ethically and with integrity. I found my previous therapist on the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (https://www.bacp.co.uk/) as I wanted to try counselling. You can also look for a therapist on the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (https://www.babcp.com/). Our NHS is fantastic but lots of people need help and can't access it quick enough sometimes. I hope in the future that this will change! Don't forget if you have private healthcare this could be an option for you too. The NHS website link to 'Moodzone' is in my bio, there are lots of helpline numbers for a variety of MH difficulties. Your home Trust will have their own talking therapies links, so that might be worth a Goggle too if you're struggling or need support. Change the changeable* ☺ We will be held accountable for what we are able to do When one has made up their mind you cannot change it But what you can change is yourself The real control we have in our life is our thoughts and actions In such situations we tend to act in impulse We need to take a moment to think carefully and then respond Remember with difficult is ease. With one difficulty there is double ease So in a stressful situation change the changeable. Instead of focusing on the negative look for the positive And that will bring about gratitude in us Hadith Do not consider anything insignificant of good deeds be it a smiling face Change your facial expression as at times it can change the situation 🦋 *5.
