Really happy with how squats are going. 8 sets of 3 at 315 lbs today and they were flyin by. Vids are of sets 7 and 8 and even those felt like they were RPE 0. . Paused deads went well too today. 6 sets of 3 at 385 lbs. Grip felt pretty solid. Only had to hook grip one rep which was cool. . #flashbackfriday to me hitting a PB with my Sumo Deadlift 💪 I haven’t yet gone over 130kg, but I can feel it’s on it way. The extra calories post-diet are fuelling my training sessions allowing me to push harder. I’ve spoken to a few women recently who are worried that if they pick up a weight they’ll injure themselves. ... Obviously strength needs to be built up over time. I didn’t just suddenly be able to lift 130kg over night. It’s taken a long period of consistent training to get a strong mind muscle connection and figuring out how to feel the right muscles engaging. ... Granted, if you pick something up with incorrect form you’ll likely injure yourself. But seek help from a professional and they’ll show you how to lift safely. Don’t let that fear of what might happen put you off from ever trying in the first place. ... I can’t express enough how going in the gym and lifting something heavy gives you an inner strength and inner power. ... Find your power! 👊

It's been some time since I switched to sumo deadlift after suffering from a slipped disk. I'm glad I made the change. With sumo, your arms come straight down from your shoulders and your legs are spread out wide. This allows your upper body to be in a more erect position as you pull. So far I have been able to prevent the rounding of my back which I believe caused the disk problem.
