Justice League Review:
Director: Zach Snyder
Starring: Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Mamoa, Ray Fischer, Henry Cavill
Although Suicide Squad is objectively worse, this is a crash test of a project that gets worse and worse the more I think of it. It feels like a mashed up construction, with an ugly colour palette of orange and red and some of the worst cgi I’ve ever seen. On top of that, the movie is chopped up, rushed, has no substance to it and has terrible editing. And the comedy is average, and comes off as a poor man’s The Avengers, which sums up the movie as a whole.
Affleck’s performance sums up my interest in this universe now; he really looks done with this role. Ezra Miller is basically the comedy source and that’s it (and his jokes aren’t funny). Ray Fisher is so glossed over I honestly forgot he was in the movie. And, I’m sorry, Gal Gadot is a terrible actress, I still think there are tonnes of better actresses that could have played Wonder Woman and I don’t get why people like her so much. Jason Mamoa is the only saving grace here because his performance is fun and magnetic and I wanna see more of him. And Henry Cavill at least gets to show his charisma but is let down by the fact that he’s a completely different character from Man Of Steel and his hilarious cgi upper lip.
And the villain... is there any point talking about him? All he is a obstacle for the heroes to take down.
This review is longer than most because there’s so much to dissect about Justice League. This is the most half hearted effort to bring these great characters to life. I’m not excited for any more that DC brings out.
