There are two different formulas but recommended one is Harris Benedict’s . The formula is different for men and women and also the kind of activity is also taken in account . If you know how much calories are required by your body you can easily manage according to your goal which might be 1) weight loss 2) muscle gain . The formula is available on net ! Actually two things as you can see the picture : 1) warm up 2) Cool down Unfortunately my observation says that many trainers tend to directly start away with their primary work out session and do not warm up their muscles ! This is very common in local gyms where people have no knowledge about fitness . These two are really necessary and must no be taken for granted . Through warm up 1) your muscle is at a lower risk for any injury due to the gradual rise in body temp. 2) facilitates neural transmission for motor neurone unit recruitment ( in easy words supports efficient movements) 3) Allows a gradual redistribution of blood to the muscle Similarly post work out cool down is as much important as warm up ! You need to stretch those muscles before leaving the gyms to avoid cramps and spasms and secondly for beginners , the likelihood of fainting .
