Kicking off part two of common exercise burn out with nutrition. A common misconception with increasing your training volume is people wanting to eat less. Why? More calories burned means more calories you can eat! Now this doesn’t mean go on a “see-food” rampage post training and clean out the cupboard (although tempting). What this means is generally people link training hard with eating less which may excite you when you see you’ve lost 3kg in 2 days due to your ultra-calorie deficit, but its not sustainable. It’s not sustainable because when you train you are depleting glycogen within your muscles which is a main energy source in your body. Feeling fatigued and tired post workout is your body’s response to depleted glycogen. Glycogen is mainly broken-down carbohydrates that the body uses as energy. If you are not eating enough to restore this glycogen in your body, you can’t expect your body to perform better and progress to harder training routines. More glycogen burned, means more carbs need to be consumed to replenish them, which enables more calories burned, which means more fat burned over a longer period of time. Although your calorie intake needs to increase if you increase your training, you can still eat to achieve your goals. If you want to lose weight, eat at a calorie deficit, but at a sustainable rate. Aiming for 1 – 1.5kg loss per week will ensure a steady weight loss that can be sustained over a longer period. Same goes for weight gain, generally you cannot build muscles while trying to lose weight so you will need to be in a calorie surplus to gain muscle. Again, around 1kg per week is sustainable and beneficial to your muscles by giving them the fuel they need to grow. I personally calculate my calories based off weight and activity levels, which then gives me a total calorie expenditure for the day. From this number I can allocate calories into proteins, fats and carbs which I can re evaluate and adjust depending on my long term goal. Do you ever have a craving so intense that you’ll drop everything you’re doing to make it happen?🙋‍♀️ • • • I randomly though of spicy chicken ranch pizza at 5:20 pm (right before Issac gets home) and dropped all other plans to go to the store and make my dream come true • • • Whole wheat dough topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella round, leftover shredded chicken, red onion, pickled jalapeños with a drizzle of ranch. Oh, and adjust I coated the crust with olive oil and a bunch of dried oregano and rosemary. • • • I am so happy I went out and bought the ingredients I needed and made the pizza I envisioned. I could have saved time by going next door to a pizza joint, but this left me feeling full and satisfied after just two slices. • • • When I truly honor my cravings and listen to my body, I enjoy food so much more than settling on something “healthier” or “easier”. • • • What are you craving right now?

I am SO OVER a diet culture that focuses on CUTTING OUT THINGS as a priority over ADDING IN THINGS. And that is basically a demon in all celebrated ways of eating these days. Whatever diet you subscribe to, there are THOUSANDS of websites and LOADS OF DOCOS dedicated to telling you what you shouldn't be eating if you want to lose weight and "be the best you". Using hyperbolic, extreme language to get you on side with their personal brand/marketing/culture/way of life. They don't focus on you and where you are at because it's a collective ideology, not an individual one. So as you can tell, I 100% completely disagree with this way of encouraging change in a person's life - WHEN it comes to food. It shouldn't be about focusing on what you CAN'T have. I believe it should, instead, be about focusing on WHAT YOU CAN HAVE! Focusing on incremental changes and including MORE plants into your meals and MORE love into your day. You can't sell a bunch of ideas though when it seems that simple. That's why it's such a huge, money-making industry - it needs people who already feel insecure about themselves and are willing to give their lives over (again) to the next business or diet that offers them crazy promises about how their life will be better if they just followed (or paid for) this 8 week plan, or this 5 step diet, or this juice cleanse, or went on this specific super expensive retreat, and so forth. I am sorry if you have ever fallen victim to any of these schemes. Please know that loving yourself starts from within first, and knowing what you are WORTHY of having. And change doesn't always have to be "all or nothing" on the first day. Small steps shouldn't be seen as small - all steps are important ❤️

Having a weight loss or weight gaining goal is not all about lifting the heaviest weight or about see how many reps you van do at a certain weight. In matter of fact, it's only 40% of the puzzle. The majority of the work comes from having a healthy, balanced and consistent diet, this is where the other 60% comes from to complete the steps to reach your goal. Now this may look healthy but I'm not going to shit around with you, this was only half of my work lunch today, the other half was 4 small millionaires shortbread and majority of my days are like this... balanced. There's stuff that is good for my body and my goal and there is stuff good for keeping me away from turning into a grumpy fuck but in the last 2 months I've only put on 0.3kg! That's right, no bullshit, no fuckery. I've legit basically kept my weight, how? Because I've eaten smartly how? We've collaborated with @dunnesstores and @peachypalate to bring you this super special Golden Vanilla Chia Pudding Parfait that is guaranteed to brighten up your morning.... Variety is the spice of life and when it comes to breakfast, I just love starting my day with something nourishing, pretty and delightfully interesting! A feast for all the senses! This golden milk based chia pudding will exceed your expectations, potentially offering up some tummy loving, muscle soothing goodness in the process. Preparation Time - 10 minutes + Overnight Servings - 2 Ingredients 250ml dairy free milk of choice, coconut or vanilla rice is recommended ½ - 1 tsp turmeric ½ tsp cinnamon 40g Raw Organic Health Chia Seeds 2 tbsp maple 2 * 125g tubs of Coyo Vanilla Yogurt To Serve : Strawberries, Goji Berries, Toasted Pumpkin Seeds Directions Mix together turmeric, cinnamon and dairy free milk of choice in a pot. Place over a medium heat, bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour into a jug, add in chia seeds and mix well. Allow to cool fully in the fridge. Once cool, stir through 1 tub of the Coyo Vanilla Yogurt and leave to sit in the fridge for at least three hours or overnight. To serve layer up chia pudding with remaining tub of Coyo Vanilla Yogurt, fresh sliced strawberries, goji berries, and toasted pumpkin seeds.

Back from the loveliest weekend in the countryside where I ate very well and did very little. Lobster for lunch, Dover sole for supper, copious amounts of cherries, gooseberries and black currants and fresh broad beans from the garden eaten right out of their pods.
