Warning ⚠️ - long post alert 1/3 (yes, you read that right) . .
I think most people who haven’t experienced grief (unknowingly, in most cases), treat it as a relatively temporary feeling. A daunting weight that makes its unwelcome presence immediately following the loss of a loved one. Which is partly true.
Grief, however, is permanent. .
Because there is a prolonged aftermath from that loss that stays with us, long after the person passes away.
At first, it hits you like a building collapsing on you. You are paralyzed; pinned beneath the crushing weight of the giant mounds of brick and sheetrock that you can’t seem to push off of you or wiggle out from underneath. But it’s okay, because first responders are there to help. You don’t even have to call for them, they are just there. The physical pain you are enduring is clearly visible and a team of people are there to help ease it. They help lift that weight off of you, drag you out of the darkness and get you the help you so desperately need.
A few weeks and even a couple of months go by, and you’re no longer in critical condition. Your wounds have been stitched; maybe a cast is on your leg, but you certainly aren’t healed. People can still see that something happened to you and may occasionally wish you well. But what was once weighing you down to the point of immobilization, is more like a heavy backpack full of all of the same shit…the rubble, the debris…and you can’t take it off, no matter how hard you try. You are forced to take the backpack with you. .
You can unload some bricks here and there, but you can’t empty it completely; the backpack stays. You can move, slowly…putting one foot in front of the other, with your cast and maybe even some crutches, too. But you certainly aren’t running yet. You maybe have a few people like physical therapists and a doctor overseeing your recovery, but the cavalry that came rushing in to help during the initial event is no longer there.

Trust that what you give to you, will be what you receive
Remember the days that 1+1 did equal 2
and that there were no grey areas to speak
That world still exists
That innocent is still there
But your mind is now open and awake
You may have lost that trust
But trust has not forgotten you
Trust take knowing that something will happen
That 'x' will produce a specific result
maybe it is our time to see that what we send out comes back differently
Trust that there is a response to what you give
But be open to what you receive

maintain a balanced breakfast with this simple creamy chia coconut oats with berries — heartier and more filling than a smoothie that will keep you feeling energized and balanced until lunch 👌🏼
3/4 cup gluten-free rolled oats
1/2 cup light coconut milk
1/2 cup filtered water
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 ripe banana, mashed
3/4 cup frozen mixed berries
3 tablespoons light coconut milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1-2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
roasted coconut chips, optional
01. in a mason jar, combine oats, coconut milk, water and cinnamon; mix well and cover with lid; store in the fridge overnight and in the morning, mash up banana and mix into oats
02. in a small pot on the stove, combine berries and coconut milk; bring to a slow boil and reduce to simmer 3-5 min until warmed and juicy; turn off heat, stir in chia seeds and maple syrup
03. add berry mixture to mason jar and stir/swirl oats and berries together; top with roasted coconut chips
Phase 1 DONE
I completed 26 workout days over the past 5 weeks and I seriously cannot believe it. That's an average of 5 workouts per week and this prego mama did it!
Before this program I was making it to the gym once a week, feeling unmotivated, had a lack of support, was eating with a lack of nutrients, and was headed nowhere.
On the other hand, my weeks during phase one of my program were so much more ME!
🗝I was consistent!
🗝I had a group of women supporting me!
🗝I had drive!
🗝I gained energy through nutritionally dense food.
🗝I was mentally NOT going insane because of all the #sweattherapy
I was getting!
I've been able to slowly gain a healthy amount of weight because of this program and all that it offers. I'm not sure exactly how much weight I've gained though because it's not too important to me. I know this body is thriving from all the times I showed up for it!
I honestly didn't think I'd make it with such a consistent run this far because I had been struggling so badly before!

Bad analogy time.
Life is just like exercise! It's true. The whole point of lifting weights and working your body hard is to tear your muscles so that they can recover and grow stronger. The very best way to build or tone muscle AND burn fat is to work yourself to complete exhaustion. Then if you give your body the right nutrients and some time to rest, you'll bounce back stronger than you were before.
Life is the same way! We all face trials, which have the power to tear us apart inside. And if we give ourselves the right mix of mindset and mental recovery, then we will become stronger than we were before.
I never thought I'd become an "exercise" person, because when I was younger I really hated doing anything that was purposefully exercising. All activities had to be masked by a sport or game or performance. But over the past few years (which have been pretty chronically challenging) I've come to love this comparison.
I find myself pushing through my workouts more fiercely because each routine is like a mini version of whatever struggle I'm facing. Like if I can make it through that half hour with a smile on my face, then I can handle anything else the day brings! And if I can see an entire 30 or 60 day program through from start to finish, then I can endure the tough life phase I'm in. It builds resilience!
I think we all can benefit from that combined mental-physical training. That's why I keep hosting Success Groups like the one I'm starting on Monday. This week has been 100% draining.
Mentally I’m at a zero and my mind is as sloppy as a soup sandwich.
