We caught a procession of cows coming down for the winter. It was mid october when they were being brought down from the farmlands. They’re all decorated with flowers and followed by musicians playing traditional instruments, adorned floats, talented jugglers, and locals dressed in traditional garb. The parade is free for all to see, so try to get a good spot if you get the chance!
While not as sacred as they are in india, cow’s seem to stand as a proud representation of switzerland. We visited a farm in jura park with huge cow bells adorning its walls. Outside, you can hear the gentle jingling of bells on cows grazing. Don’t go during the autumn season though as the cows would have since been herded elsewhere to escape the start of chilly winter season.
