“One day, while I was doing my preparatory coaching for the MBBS entrance exam, I skipped my class to see an exhibition. There, I happened to meet an Indian #navy
officer from Orissa. Gosh – I can’t even remember his name now, but thanks to him, my fate changed completely. While I was discussing my career plans with him, he gave me the website address of the Indian Maritime University. Later, my sister made all the pre-sea applications on my behalf and here I am now.
I started my career as a #cadet
with NOS Ship Management on the vessel, D Whale. Like all cadets, I’ve had my share of highs and lows. However, my Captain, Senior Officers and other #crew
members made me #sail
through my initial years beautifully. After clearing my second mate, I joined Fleet as an additional third officer on the Chemical #Tanker
, Trans Trader.
Some of my happiest moments at #sea
were on my last #ship
, Njord Cloud with my Captain Dejo Francis and Chief Engineer, Jayanth Joseph. Fortunately, I have had the opportunities to work with some great masters; but my favourites would be Captain Dejo Francis, Captain Sukhjeet Singh, Captain Gautam and Captain Sasi Bhushan. Another person I really admire and look up to is Superintendent, Rajat K Gupta. He is down-to-earth, polite and SUPER COOL 🙂. On the whole, I love my job and take a lot of pride in it”. - Harish P Nair

with Fleet as a Second Officer on the #vessel
NJord Cloud. He is currently preparing for his Chief Mate’s license exam and looks forward to commanding a #ship
