So grateful I was able to vote during my conference period yesterday! My husband and I were part of the first 10 people in line for early voting at our local library.
This election season has meant so much to me...I've never felt as passionate about what's happening in our education system as I have this year, mostly because I've never been as informed about what's happening (and what's not happening) as I have this year.
It is so important for educators, especially those in public education, to educate OURSELVES on the issues and vote for people who will support the children of our county, state, and country. Imagine if ALL teachers voted...what a positive change we could make!
As my superintendent, Dr. Jodi Duron, said in her weekly memo: "Be mindful that our students are watching us. They are counting on us to vote in their best interest and in the interest of a bright and prosperous future for all."
Reconstruction Review game— Life sized tic tac toe! Students played in partners (pic 2 & 3), then the winner made a move on the class game board (pic 1). Since everybody does the work and there’s no “outs” in review games, both partners answered the chosen question correctly before an X or O could be placed. #SetTheStageToEngage #SocialStudies #teachersofinstagram

When I feel distant Your love draws me close When my hope is missing Your presence is my home You're my protector Your word keeps me safe
The love of my Father Nothing can separate No matter where I've been or what I've done You'll never leave or hold back Your love Your presence is surrounding me I am not alone, You are here with me You've given me Your heart and You will never leave You're always good and You're always here for me☝️🙌🙏 Song of Songs 4:7

The OOTD Challenge Winning Design for 2 Devotion: This was the #ootd
with most DIY action out of all the winning designs. It’s was super fun together but so difficult to shoot because I really have very little to no swag/gangsta coolness. Even though I researched hip hop poses, the entire shoot I struggled to look less feminine and toe-pointy dancer-ish and more “tough gal”. 😅 But it was so so funny and made me (and my husband) laugh so much and the whole experience definitely took me outside my comfort zone! 📸: @jimho7 #teacherlife #teacherslife #artproject #designproject #fashionstyling #artteacher #teachersofinstagram #artiseverywhere
Day 28 of 80: Cardio Core is done!
I paused the workout during the core exercises with the sliders to get all 10 reps in at my own pace!

I’m a sucker for social media, I’ve bought shoes 👞 instagram and books from twitter! I’m frequently posting on insta and I do enjoy it! I’ve met fellow tweeters, I’ve been to events advertised, shared photos with family across the world etc so it’s a great way of widening our world 🗺 but at the same time it can be overwhelming and waste of hours and scrolling time probably more than necessary due to the addictive quality of social media apps... For younger ones maybe even more so... using Twisted Tales of the Internet book 🤳🏾📲⌨️🖥 children can find a way of talking about their issues through story and poetry, assessing some of these things. Check it out our five star reviews and let us know what you think. Link to book on amazon. ⌨️Keep communicating, chatting and keep it real! ✨✨✨✨✨💫✨✨✨✨✨
This has been such a timesaver for me! Students are grouped homogenously for their Reader’s Workshop partnerships. Since their reading level changes so quickly in first grade, I find myself changing their reading partners about once a month. Instead of re-writing the poster each month like I used to do, I now put each kid’s name on a sticky note so I can flexibly change partnerships whenever I need to! I don’t remember where I saw this tip, but it has been such a huge timesaver for me! ⏳⏰🔁 #teacher #teach #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #firstgradeteacher #teachers
Welcome to day 1 of SPY LAB! This is a HUGE week for us where we will be taking our end of quarter exams on Wednesday! In order to prepare, I wanted to create the most engaging and rigorous experience that I could think of! Cue spy lab! Man, did these kids work hard! The green spies 👽 stole a crucial code from our government and they had to solve three missions in order to begin to piece the code back together again!! Day 1 content: context clues, inferences, annotating, summarizing and identifying characteristics with evidence! Can’t wait for day 2! I’ll be creating this into an editable product that can be used with any content!!! Happy Monday, you guys!
Major shoutout to my amazing sister for all of her incredible help @learningfortheloveofit

Me and my spidey hands... why am I so #awkward
Flawed on Friday: Honoured and humbled.
The nomination made me cry for all the right reasons.
The list of nominees is intimidating, studded with incredibly hard working and inspirational humans whom I consider mentors and legends in the youth sector.
Then they read out my name.
I’m deeply honoured to be recognised in this way by young people - the humans who make my world go around.
This is huge and something that I will remember and use as encouragement to continue to put energy and time and everything I have into helping young people make their lives better.
The highlight of the night: One enthusiastic thumbs up from one special dude. It hit me right in the feels and means more than that crab stick from 15th September 2017 (I know, unbelievable!!). Thank you to all the amazing people that understand my values allowing me to do so much of all of this. You’re enablers and I love you for that.
To many more years of taking time and giving a shit. 🤟🏽 #ballaratyouth @byouballarat #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #teacher #fedcollegeyouth #vcalfoundation
