Say hello to our resident violist, Claire Larkin 🎻!!! She is a Biological Sciences major here at UIC and enjoys playing in our orchestra for already three years and counting! Claire says she loves to play with us because it gave her a great networking opportunity while also allowing her to de-stress from her hectic life for at least a couple hours each week.
Claire is co-President of Medlife, involved with Chaarg fitness group, a member of Notes to Share at UIC and does research at the College of Medicine. During her free time Claire volunteers at the Children’s Advocacy Center teaching kids how to read, write and play music.
I asked Claire what her favorite piece was to play with us so far and she said “Scheherazade, because it had really made it easy to visualize the story of the piece throughout each movement. It also was cool to play with a few members of the Chicago Philharmonic and you get to learn a lot from them during sectionals”. This shows that not everyone needs to be a music major in order to benefit from the impact of music! @clairelarkin16
