Palo Duro Canyon is a canyon system of the Caprock Escarpment located in the Texas Panhandle near the cities of Amarillo and Canyon. As the second-largest canyon in the United States, it is roughly 120 mi long and has an average width of 6 mi, but reaches a width of 20 mi at places. Its depth is around 820 ft, but in some locations, it increases to 1,000 ft. Palo Duro Canyon (from the Spanish meaning "hard wood" or, more exactly, "hard stick") has been named "The Grand Canyon of Texas" both for its size and for its dramatic geological features, including the multicolored layers of rock and steep mesa walls similar to those in the Grand Canyon.

Sweetest baby ever! 😭😍 I’m so glad I got to visit the Sauer-Beckmann Farmstead, this family made something out of nothing, 1918 was a tough year and I admire everything about this farm. 🐷 🐓 🐮 #texasparksandwildlife
Has it been long enough to post another shot from this tree tunnel? I'm not sure what the unwritten Instagram rule is concerning this, so I'll just throw caution to the wind. If you've never been to Caprock Canyons SP with the intention of having no intentions rather than to chill ride, camp, and find a BBQ joint, then I highly suggest finding time to head that way.
This Wildlife Wednesday we want to feature this unique little armadillo! As you can see he’s missing a tail! How do you think he lost it? Speculate in the comments below! He looks like one tough customer!
Thinking about our beautiful Texas summers, on this cold December evening. This picture was taken in the real dogdays, but that sounds alright to me right now.
One thing that is really keeping me warm about Coleman this winter is the Ryan Vance Memorial Fieldmeet and Destination Coleman's first annual Falconry Expo.
We've been working tirelessly towards January 25th and 26th, to bring over 80 Falconers, apprentices, and wildlife rehabbers to our county! Hawks, Falcons, Owls and a few special Raptors will be making an appearance and the public is invited to go along into the field to beat brush and do some field spectating.
This is a tremendous opportunity for hunting, nature and outdoor enthusiasts to see first hand how the ancient tradition of Falconry has taken hold in modern American outdoorsmanship. I'm not a hunter myself but have found that just being near these birds of prey is breathtaking. This is an exciting and educational experience for all ages!
Coleman county is welcoming you all to come and experience the graceful power of these Raptors in full hunt at Destination Coleman's first annual Falconry Expo.

Being cooped up in the library always makes me reminiscent of travel! Would rather be laying in a hammock than cramming for Investments..
She was never meant to be contained. I think that’s what brought us together.
Something you don’t see every day. A big meal for a big guy !
