I can't thank the incredible medical team here at Children's enough. For those of us who live outside the walls of a hospital most days, I don't think we truly understand these amazing people and all they do for others, including our loved ones. In front of our unit is a beautiful display of artwork from the nursing staff here as to why they chose this profession. I wanted to share with everyone because these people have sincerely saved Alex's life. Our neurosurgeon, Dr. Chima Oluigbo, is a miracle worker. I've hugged that man more times than he is probably comfortable with, but he saved Alex's life, truly. How can you ever repay someone for that? And he saves other children's lives on a weekly basis. I've seen the same anesthesiologists here over and over again, wondering if they ever sleep (don't worry - they do). On the morning of Alex's surgery, they said there were 70 surgeries scheduled for the day. That is an incredible amount of medical professionals in just this one hospital on one day. If you have a friend or family member that works in the medical field, thank them today. They are incredibly smart and talented people who give so selflessly to others. 👨⚕️👩⚕️🏥❤️

Fam. Faaammmm. 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿😭😭😭😭This has been a long time coming. This is for everyone who said I won’t be anything. This is for everyone who had doubts. BUT, most importantly, this is for everyone who BELIEVED in me. Is this the end of my education? Probably not, but as of January 2nd, 2019 A.D., I am OFFICIALLY Aaron G., RN, BSN.....and I’ve taken so many L’s leading up to this (and my family has too) but it was WORTH IT. Yes. I cried a little. I’ll probably cry again when the diploma comes and when I walk. Lol. Sheesh...2019 so far has been amazing.....
First work buddy! In nursing, especially when you’re new and it’s a big & somewhat intimidating place, it’s beneficial to make friends. I’m shy though when meeting people; thankfully my new buddy here wasn’t. Lol. Finishing up orientation yay! 🤓
bring over your coolest mates ... 😎 !!!!
Nurse Rebecca Dickerson was named the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital Daisy Award winner for her commitment to providing compassionate care to patients, especially in sad and challenging times for new mothers and families. “Rebecca was the first nurse we got after the birth of our stillborn baby. She helped us with everything about our baby, even when not asked for.”
Even on the hardest of days, I have a duty to serve my patients. I took the oath as a nurse. I knew this, and I wanted this. No matter what, I’m thankful God gave me the opportunity to be a nurse. I will always put my patients first, & I will always try my very best. I want to be able to leave work knowing I gave my all. Compassion, respect, but also being committed to improving yourself as a nurse is what will make a nurse the best nurse. Nursing is not easy. It’s HARD. Physically, mentally, emotionally. It can be draining. We give so much to our patients, we sometimes don’t give back to ourselves. We have to meet the demands of the needs of our patients, doctors, coworkers, managers, and ourselves. Pray for a nurse tonight. ❤️ #nurse #nursing #imanurse #RN #registerednurse #emergencyroomnurse #ERnurse #emergencynursing #lovesnurse #thankanurse

The mutual affection between patient Karen Glugla and nurse honoree Crystal Nikkel was obvious at the Henry Ford Macomb Hospital Daisy Award ceremony. “I was scared to death. Crystal remained calm and kept me focused that everything would be okay…It was her quick action that got everything under control. It didn’t stop there. She continued to check on me daily, even when she wasn’t 'my nurse.' She kept me positive, giving me and my family encouragement and much needed hugs.” Great job, Crystal!
“Fucking bitch. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been called a fucking bitch...How thick can your skin get before it cracks? Or hardens into a kind of emotional scleroderma...It wears us down.” http://merrilymuses.com/2018/10/17/the-traumatized-nurse This 👏🏻 is 👏🏻 everything 👏🏻 I have been physically, mentally, and emotionally abused by you. I have had my life threatened by you and I have had your family threaten me. I have also held your hand as you slowly took your last peaceful breath because you had no family. I have been the shoulder your family cries on when they felt like all hope was lost. I have intervened before your active suicide attempt became successful. I have continued to give you chest compressions even when I know deep down I cannot revive you. I have narcan-ed you on your 3rd plus overdose. I have removed your bodily excretions despite your embarrassment because you physically cannot clean yourself. I will continue to care for you. I am a nurse. #wortharead #thankanurse
grab your colleauges .. 😄 !!!
tag ya main homies ... 😝 !!
Yesterday I finished my last shift at EMC 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺. Though my journey here has concluded (at least for now), I met some AMAZING people that I will NEVER forget. Big special thanks to my unit manager, Amber, for taking my resume when I popped up in the hallway and stopped her on her way to a meeting as a bright-eyed & bushy-tailed new grad just begging for a chance. She took me in, introduced me to this family you see here, helped me grow as an RN and person with every shift. Shout out to @tricia_l_s
as well, who challenged me to think like a nurse and not just do tasks, but consider the “whole picture.” @winfreysranchandhome
from day one challenged me to delegate but also sharpen my time management, @hannarobinson17
showed me how to be skilled and compassionate at the same time, and @carol.ort.71
was a partner-in-crime, mentor and infinite source of wisdom all in one. @mrs.ashleyschmitz
saved my butt so many times, never let me stay quiet and were always a lot of fun to be around...So many more I can talk about, but this is already way too long a caption. I’ll miss these ppl more than they know. On to the next chapter of my nursing journey....which starts on Monday! ❤️ See you later EMC fam. 🥺
I’m so excited to travel around the country this year with my bestie @nurse.blake
