I'm watching a Canadian comedy on Netflix called "Working Moms" and it's pretty good so far. The show is filmed in Toronto, so I'm sure all my Toronto moms would recognize some of the places in the show. .
"Are you going back to work?" I can't count how many times I've been asked that question. The answer is no for now, and I don't know when either. Before I had Sophie, I was very career driven, my career was my baby. .
I was working as a law firm manager, never in a million years had I thought that I would leave that job and choose to stay at home, making that decision was not easy, it is not saying I'm not ambitious anymore, nor I'm not contributing to my family. I'm still paying for the bills I've always paid, plus the expenses of Sophie's. Even if you aren't contributing financially, there's no need to feel bad about it at all, you are raising the future generation, those countless hours are priceless, and you should applaud yourselves for that.
Instead of upgrading to a bigger home, we are putting that on hold for now since there's way less income, but that's okay, because these years with Sophie, I'll never have them back. I know it will probably affect my future career, whatever that might be, but I'm willing to take that risk, wait and see what the future has in store for me. .
Whether you are a stay at home, or working mom, no one has it easy, and every family is different, you have to decide what's best for you and your family. Don't compare or judge, you don't know what circumstances others are in, be kind to each other, being a mom is hard enough as is.
