Wanted to find this bridge in Georgetown mostly because it reminds me of Harry Potter and I love historic trains. Unfortunately, the train is no longer running for this season but still made for an awesome photo and fun snow day with my family.
Sometimes you just have to slow down and smell the coffee ☕️ and if you’re lucky enough to have a partner like me, you might get some great shots during it all too 😂😂 I know we tend to want to GO GO GO on vacation, following itineraries and researching places to go but that can end up being exhausting (especially if you’re like me and don’t preplan anything) If your body is asking for a break, wanting to relax and unwind in a robe in your room - let it! The same way we deserve to travel and explore, we deserve some R&R too. Now which way to the spa? ✨
My all time favourites.❤️
One day I will live in this country, completly fell in love 🇦🇺
Bath time 2 was fun today, shame they wouldn't let me do it in Milford Sound so I had to settle for this beauty of a spot 👌
Sully! You are such a trooper. Clearly you’ve been working hard since 1986. We’re so grateful you took us this far, and that you were kind enough to break down for some well deserved rest where you did
We traveled over a thousand miles from OR through the Redwoods, Big Sur, San Francisco and LA. RIGHT when we crossed the AZ state line, Sully said “no more.” We turned to grab some gas and Sully started smoking from underneath. I went to pull away and he wouldn’t go. So we ended up dragging him back to CA to the nearest shop who could handle the issues.
Long story short, Sully’s transmission blew. It turns out there is an issue with the drive shaft, where it connects to transmission. A groove in the pinion...blah blah, Sully’s tired. So, for the last week we’ve been going through replacing the transmission at this amazing local shop.
What I’ve taken from this so far:
1. The best laid plans of mice and men...
2. Acceptance is essential. While it would be an easy impulse to follow, complaining about our circumstance would only make me suffer.
3. People have huge hearts. This has given us the opportunity to accept massive generosity, and outpourings of love.
4. Problems do not go away when you do. Things are tough. Life is full of obstacles. And those obstacles, are the way.
5. Gratitude...just, gratitude. The most powerful force in the world is love, and gratitude is an invaluable expression of love.
We are beyond grateful for the support of our friends and family, the generosity and caring from shop staff, and the opportunity to live out our dreams...challenges and all.
Onward...through the fog
One of my favorite stops in Oregon.
Just realized I’ve posted multiple photos of girls tennis over the years but this is my first photo of guys tennis... 😅🙈
Well, we’re still stuck at this shop in the middle of nowhere and tomorrow marks one week that we’ve been here. To say I’m shocked that we’re still here would be an understatement.
First we blew the transmission. So to find one of those for a 1986 vehicle wasn’t the easiest and that was a slow process. And then once that was fixed we found there’s something up with the drive shaft and that likely caused the transmission issues. So now we’re on to fixing that.
It’s been a week of emotions. From heartbroken that we missed our big company event to grateful that we found such a knowledgeable shop to do this work, my emotions have been all over the place. And then tonight, the guys at the shop surprised us with a hotel room so we could sleep well and get a good old shower, and that sent me over the edge in tears.
It’s been easy to get caught up and play the victim and feel sorry for myself but in reality this is the best we could hope for in a not so great situation. We’re safe, we have good people looking out for us and we have each other. The guys at this shop have been working so hard to get us out of here and they were equally as devastated this afternoon when they found they couldn’t let us head out yet. It just is what it is.
So tonight I’m laying here clean in a hotel room feeling so so grateful. Grateful for good people in this world. Grateful for family going above and beyond to help us, and grateful for our safety and resiliency. There is a lesson to be learned here and it’s hitting me hard right now 🙏🏼 #sullythesunrader
Last week I made it to my 35th state, and that was @southdakota.
After landing in Rapid City, Nicole and I drove to the Badlands for sunrise, and this was a spot I’ve been wanting to visit for years. From the layers of earth to the glittering frost on the boardwalks, this was hands down my favorite morning of the trip. We spent two hours driving along the state scenic byway, and before heading back to Rapid City, we made a stop at Wall Drug and enjoyed some top-notch doughnuts and a five cent cup of coffee. The food scene in Rapid City is incredible, and given its close proximity to the Badlands, Custer State Park, Spearfish and Lead, it’s the perfect place to stay if you’re exploring the western part of the state, which borders Wyoming. For more info on my favorite adventures (and where to get the mashed potato pizza I mentioned in my last post!), check out my new blog — link in bio. I'll definitely be back to visit these same spots in the summer — and hopefully I’ll find some new hidden gems in this beautiful state. #hifromSD #seasonsofSoDak #ad
Trying to sneak in quiet moments during an already crazy busy week...it’s only Tuesday?! But we’re filled with gratitude for the place we live and the work we get to do 🌊💙
I have more flaws and imperfections than anybody I know. I stress, I worry, I have insecurities, I get scared, I question everything and everyone, and I’m slowly learning to work through it and that it’s okay. Be gentle with yourself. Everybody is doing the best that they can.
We are all in this together, we are all doing the best we can, and when you can embrace the fact that celebrating others can only add JOY to YOUR world, you’ll show up for life with confetti and a party hat every single day.
[I always thought we needed a party hat emoji and we finally have it] 🥳
Nicy Superstar 🌟
a year since adventuring out in westworld is a year entirely too long. anyone down to Moab soon 🤠🤠
Caught this guy stealing crumbs we dropped while at the Volcano summit. August 2017
For 9 months I carried our little one on our adventures and now it’s dads turn. At 7 months pregnant we made a trip to the Canadian Rockies, an area that had been on our list to explore for years. We were blown away by the beauty and size of these mountains. This ridge line hike had incredible 360 views.

Don’t let life pass you by! ✌🏽
made a quick edit with some leftover footage from the holidays. always a blessing to be able to venture home and be with family and friends during the most wonderful time of the year. I hope this brings a smile to you as much as it does for me!
When your friend says, "Let's go hike Mary's" you just do it. Even if it means slopping your way day with unsightly turns and eating it a few times. 🤣 At least the view from the top was gorgeous!
I've also made the decision to resurrect my @jesscurren
account. I love posting about our life in a sticks and bricks but need to back off the pressure of our public account. Feel free to shoot me a message if you'd like to follow our stationary journey and I'll keep this one to travel, outdoors, and exploring!
"Let's go to the beach."
Nate // what a rad dude 🍎 honestly idk why he decided to put an apple in his mouth, but it looked really BA & moody, so whatever haha 💁🏼♂️😂
If there is one thing I miss is when this little one would come to my room to play Papa’s Donuteria 😪🍩
I found this little flower in my parent’s backyard over Christmas. I almost dismissed it as as little green, funny looking, ugly flower. But when I looked closer, I saw that unlike its neighbors, shimmered in the sunlight and was painted with red and purple highlights. Nearly everything deserves a second look. Photography teaches me to discover and not to dismiss. ☀️🔬🔎
The next part of our journey begins. @maleemuse
and I endured the harsh reality of winter in New York living off grid last year. We had struggled to stay warm, going through a whopping 6 generators in about a year and a half!!!
This winter we aren’t having it! We needed a place to stay with heat and electricity that wasn’t tied to the constant generator drama...
So from moving from a 2 bedroom apartment to a tiny house, we now are blessed for the opportunity to live in our own private little cabin for the winter 2019. Another small space filled with warmth and love...
Will the tiny house come up here with us? Or will it be time to start that #skoolie
As we continue to live a life of perpetual, uncalculated life in the present moment...our adventure continues!
Don’t forget to stretch between each adventure sesh 💪🏻🙋🏼♂️🕺🏼🙋🏼♂️💪🏻
Despite the storm, up up up!!!
When the morning sky makes your whole body smile ☀️
This is my favorite image from my trip to the Canadian Rockies. Not because it is the most beautiful, but because it is different. I captured this on my second night at Abraham Lake at Windy Point. I photographed at Preachers Point the evening before, and it would have been real easy to stay in the comfort zone, where I knew there were ice bubbles and good compositions. However, I took a chance because I knew if the light was right, I could come away with something unique and I feel like I got one that I really like.
2 hrs later I'm "lounging" in the #hopstepinn
. That's a flight from #sapporo
and then two trains to #oji
. It's literally been decades since I stayed in a hostel. 4-girl dorm room and they're all out tonight. I promise to be extra loud in the morning if you are loud tonight, #justsaying
I can't believe this adventure is over! On day 4, beat up and frustrated with my equipment, I was ready to go home. I couldn't imagine 4 more days at this pace. @legrandadventuretours
takes you to some amazing #secretstashes
but you better be in shape and ready to go all day with barely a potty break. I hope to have a blog post up next week and you can read all about my trip to #japow
. I should also have a few more #powdershots
to post if I can get the other photographers to share! Now I move on to three days in #Tokyo
