When you stop eating certain foods, like gluten or dairy, for any of period of time, you realize just how much they’re EVERYWHERE. In break rooms, vending machines, cafes, restaurants, at office functions, parties, advertised on TV and ads of all kinds… .
And while cutting out gluten or dairy can better for our energy, skin, or digestion, when you see something you used to enjoy that’s essentially made of the foods you can’t handle, it’s hard not to miss that.
Lucky enough for us, as more and more people figure out what foods don’t work for them, or that they need to take a break from it, more and more people are coming up easier ways to enjoy versions of those foods. 💚 Matcha Mint Chip Boba Smoothie with Lion's Mane Mushroom 🍄😋
👉 Make your own:
• 1/2 avocado
• 1/2 cup spinach
• 1/2 tsp Lion's Mane mushroom extract powder
• 1 cup coconut or almond milk
• 3-4 ice cubes
• 1 Tb dark chocolate chopped
• 1/2 tsp matcha tea powder
• 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
• 1 tsp vanilla bean or vanilla extract
• 1-2 Tb maple syrup
• 1/2 to 1 cup of black boba tapioca
1. Start by preparing boba as per instructions on the packaging
2. Once boba is made (this generally takes less than 5 minutes) set aside and let sweeten in honey, maple syrup or coconut nectar
3. Add all remaining ingredients (except chocolate) into a blender and blend until smooth
4. Once you have reached desired consistency, add chocolate and mix into the smoothie
5. Add boba to your glass and pour smoothie on top
6. Enjoy your delicious Mint matcha chip boba smoothie with Lion's Mane mushroom!

SWEET POTATO CRUST | Made without dairy or wheat, the easy-to-digest dish is the perfect combination of good and good for you...
For the crust:
1 cup baked and mashed sweet potato
1 cup oat flour (blended oats) or almond flour for Paleo
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
¼ tsp curry powder (optional)
½ tsp sea salt
1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
For the plant-based pesto: (makes 1 ¼ cup)
2 cups tightly packed fresh basil leaves
½ cup walnuts or pine nuts
1 garlic clove, chopped (omit for Pitta/yogic path)
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 Tbsp lemon juice
3 tbsp nutritional yeast
½ cup extra virgin olive oil
For the toppings:
choice of veggies (mushrooms, kale, artichoke coated in olive oil)
1 handful arugula tossed in olive oil and lemon, optional
For the pesto:
Combine all ingredients, except olive oil, in a food processor. Pulse until mixture is coarsely ground. Stream in the olive oil while blending. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
For the crust:
Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the sweet potato, flour, baking soda, oregano, basil, curry powder, salt and pepper. Knead well until the mixture resembles pizza dough.
Coat a wood board and rolling pin with flour and roll the dough into a large circle, about 1/2 inch thick. Bake for 15–20 minutes or until the crust edges are slightly browned.
For the pizza:
Remove the crust from the oven. Spread ¼ cup pesto over the crust, then top with feta, roasted chickpeas and vegetable toppings. Broil for 3–5 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Cool briefly before slicing. Top with arugula salad and enjoy.

I got so many questions regarding soy yesterday, and to be honest I could not be more excited!!! 🤓📚 lets take a look at the FACTS. ⠀
I can’t wait to put it all in a blog post for you so you can finally put an end to the soy debate and figure out if it works for you. Because the beauty of this life is we are all different. And no matter what science says we have to do what feels right for our body and what we are comfortable when we use are better judgement. (Don’t worry! I’ll be here to guide you!)⠀
I’ll be covering soy in relation to topics like women’s health conditions, thyroid condition, men’s health and breast cancer. ⠀
But I want to know your burning questions about soy!! Ask away so I make sure to answer them.⠀
In the meantime, here are my guidelines - Opt for fermented soy like tempeh and miso, or edamame and tofu that is organic and sprouted. ⠀
Avoid other forms of soy like soy protein protein isolate, soy lecithin and soybean oil. These are heavily processed and don’t really need to have a place in our diet. ⠀
If you’re reading this, take 3 deep belly breaths. Inhale. exhale.
Feel better? Me too. I once heard someone say that shallow breathing equals a shallow life. While that could be a little extreme, I do notice that when I take deep full breaths my mindset is much more clear + present ✨
Deep breathing can also shift us out of “flight or fight” mode and turn on our “rest and digest” mode. This is where we want to be in when eating so that the body can properly digest + absorb nutrients 🌱 This week, I set an intention to take 3 deep breaths before eating to be more mindful while I eat and to turn on my “rest and digest” mode, so far so good! In my life, pancakes have always brought with them a sense of home, kinship, and belonging. They carry with them the nostalgia of breakfast stops at diners and monotonous road trips. They carry the sweet perfume of campfires and summer holidays. These delightfully flat stacks invoke not only a nostalgic comfort, but also a sense of much needed normalcy in the rush of hectic workweeks. What kind of memories do pancakes evoke for you?
Creamy pasta sauce, but without the cream😻! Recipe for this MISO TAHINI pasta sauce is up on the blog (link in bio). I kept this recipe super simple (under 5 ingredients + no need for any fancy equipment), but it was exactly what I was looking for in a creamy (yet dairy-free) pasta sauce 🍝. Tahini is made from ground sesame seeds and is a source of protein, healthy fats, calcium, iron + magnesium, making this pasta not just delicious, but nutrient-dense as well! Feel free to serve with any cooked veggies as you'd like - I chose roasted romanesco + sautéed spinach simply because that's what I had on hand! 💛

Grapefruit, or any citrus for that matter, is what I refer to as “not a first date food”. Why? Because no matter how *nicely* you try to eat it, it always ends up as a level of savage that I’m not sure makes the cut for a first date.🤷🏼♀️But you know, when you find a grapefruit this good, does it even matter?
Since I’m a big citrus person (and I find grapefruit is super good for my belly) I decided to work it into my lunch today and go with a few of my favorite things: a sautéed sweet potato & egg “nest” with local micro greens + flaky sea salt and pepper, and sliced grapefruit with honey, cinnamon, and a litttttle bit of sea salt. If you haven’t tried grapefruit like that, DO IT. So good it’s like dessert. Oh, and you guys rock.✌🏻

Since she has gymnastics tonight I said we could have them tonight for dinner as they're quick and easy. Only I decided to head to barre since I haven't been in a week, which seems like forever with appointments, chiropractor, and the girls off school. I realized after I signed up it was for Reform but remembered the amazing team at @purebarremaplegrove
and how they said any class was modifiable at the pregnancy workshop so gave it a shot and so happy I did. I was worried because I haven't been to a Reform class since around 24 weeks and at 36 weeks everything is so much harder. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
