V.R : "This is my 4th podium this year, the third consecutive, I'm happy because I'm riding well and my team is working in the right way but I'm also aware that when the best result is just a third place you cannot win a championship like this. Today I thought I will suffer more instead we managed to improve the balance of the bike in the warm up and the soft front tyre which was an obligatory choice and for which I was worried but in the end everything was better than expected. Considering the disaster of last year, I didn't get far from the first ones and above all I managed to be fast until the end.
I'll tell you a secret, all the riders believe they can win the title, even those who arrive last, let alone who is second in the standings.
There is not a time limit for technical improvements , also they never keep me informed about the programme. The goal is to become competitive enough to get back to win as soon as possible, by the end of championship.
Assen is the best track for a victory? This statistic is sad both for me and for Yamaha but we have nothing magical for Assen, it is true that I like it very much but it is the same for Mugello, Barcelona or Phillip Island. Also I do not like the idea of having to wait for a particular track to be able to try to win and above all I wouldn't want it to be the only one. The goal is to be competitive on all the tracks.
This is why we need to wait for help from Japan.
We're missing something right now. What? Mainly we have to work on acceleration, electronics, I realize that even more when I follow the Honda and Ducati. Then on the frame.
There are those who argue that with Lorenzo still in the team the problems would have already been solved.
It does not seem like a fair analysis. I think for Yamaha the arrival of the single control unit was a problem, while for Honda and Ducati almost an advantage. It is true that I often agreed with Lorenzo on the path to follow, but even Maverick and I are quite on the same line. I would say it's more the fault of Yamaha than of Vinales because they didn't try to work on the details like others team did.
