“There's lots of things along the road
I'd surely like to see
I'd like to lean into the wind
And tell myself I'm free
But your softest whisper's louder
Than the highways call to me” -Townes Van Zandt
A.D.V.E.N.T.U.R.E — It’s what’s for Christmas.
“it’s such a rare and incredible thing, to be alive. to laugh so hard your body forgets how to breath and scream because you can and change in every way without ever trying. to kiss and cry and eat dessert and stare at the ceiling and wonder if you’re happy enough.
think yes (flowers that grow without being planted and old dogs and children who reach out to touch the sky because they don’t know the limits of the world just yet)
think no (big storms that erase small costal villages and the boy with sad eyes who broke you so bad you don’t recognize your own reflection and stolen wallets in misfit hands)
close your eyes and think what you think and don’t ever stop.”
to be continued (1/2)
Travel far enough and you’ll find yourself.
This photo will always have a special place in my heart. It was our very first trip to Moab and I can still remember how stunned I was at how beautiful and strange it was. It was surreal! We now drive out to Moab 2-3 times a year... it’s only 4 hours away and it’s one of our favorite places to camp. But every time we go, I still feel the same way I felt the first time! I’m still stunned by the beauty, it’s truly one of my favorite places on Earth. Do you have a place that takes your breath away no matter how many times you visit? thevaliantlife #archesnp #findyourpark
🏔🌌🌎 | #mountainsmatter #internationalmountainday #choosemountains #themountainsarecalling
The best view comes from the hardest climb 🏔
Appreciation day for one of the most beautiful features on planet earth. Mountains provide 60-80% of the worlds freshwater, host over 25% of our forests, and hold the hearts of many. Sending love back to Switzerland today, a place where these stunning landscapes are always missed by me, and powerfully appreciated by their people. Mountains ARE important and its our job to protect them! 🏔🤸♀️
Splitboarding is cooler than snowboarding. @thepursuitofalpenglow
cruises the chute he booted. Transitioned in the sun on the ridge and then each dropped into a different chute on the northside, meet up below, cruise pow into the jungle below, veggie belays down some frozen falls, bushwhack to the highway in the dark 👍
Well I was just informed that today December 11 is International Mountain Day 🎉😭🏔 so I felt compelled to share ✨ Mountains are perhaps my favorite thing ♥️ They are why I live where I live today. I work on a Mountain, I play in the mountains, I paint in the mountains, and I paint mountains. I just love mountains ✨ Born and raised in the Prairie State and educated as a Hoosier, where everything is flat, I ran off to Colorado some years ago because the mountains (so cliche) called. But it’s true, they really did. I used to read Muir and Thoreau and Whitman as a kid and dream about experiencing the far-off wild beauty that they knew; I carried the mountains in my heart and imagination long before I left to go to them. They have a beauty and a gravity and a romance - and a wildness - that I was always drawn to. And ever since Colorado I have moved solely to places that have mountains. “Why’d you come to Asheville?” people will say. “Idk I heard there were mountains [and artsy people ☺️].” I still don’t feel like my soul is more at home anywhere else: not by the ocean or in the desert, but in the mountains. They are grand, overwhelming, healing, challenging, and sacred - such a divine combination. Anyway, point being that mountains are beautiful, and full of something I think we all seek. If you are craving adventure, wildness, love, creativity, purpose, freedom, go to the mountains. I have found that all those things and more will meet you there 🏔🌙

That's right, it's Woman Crush Wednesday! Seen here is @joybigail
crushing part of the Terryall Detour on the CTR route, running 32c tires, picking the best line through miles of choppy washboard dirt road. With temps barely inching over freezing, roads covered in ice, snow, and gravel, beautiful views around every corner, and endless golden light, we had a good day in the mountains. By the end my legs were sore, and she dropped me up the last long climb. We'll be stopping by the hardware store later to pick up more hammers because she keeps dropping them. This woman is pretty rad.

Might finally be able to get out and ride after a good month of slop and ice. Random clips from a ride into dark at one my local favs. Loving the mtb only 1-way trail they have been testing this year! @jeffcoopenspace
Did you know today is International Mountain Day? Its not too late to go get some outdoor time, even if your nearest mountain is just a hill, get some elevation today!
Today was designated International Mountain Day by the @unitednations
🏔 Reminding us that #mountainsmatter
for much more than just outdoor recreation.
💧 Water: as mountains are the world’s ‘water towers’, providing between 60 and 80 percent of all freshwater resources for our planet.
📈 Disaster Risk Reduction: as climatic variations are triggering disasters.
🌎 Tourism: as mountain destinations attract around 15-20 percent of global tourism and are areas of important cultural diversity, knowledge and heritage.
🥔 Food: as they are important centres of agricultural biodiversity and are home to many of the foods that come to our table, such as rice, potatoes, quinoa, tomatoes and barley.
✏️Youth: as despite the beautiful landscapes, life in the mountains can be tough, particularly for rural youth.
🗿Indigenous People: as many mountain areas host ancient indigenous communities that possess and maintain precious knowledge, traditions and languages.
🐅 Biodiversity: as half of the world’s biodiversity hotspots are concentrated in mountains and mountains support approximately one-quarter of terrestrial biological diversity
A little late to the party, but...Happy International Mountain Day! Cracks me up how everyday there’s always something to “celebrate” but it’s also kind of awesome, right?! Everyday is an opportunity to find something positive in... and when you can’t or it’s a little harder...just find out what holiday it is! 😂💕🎉
📍The Matterhorn ➸ Hamlet of Findeln - Zermatt, Switzerland.
We arrived late in Zermatt and made our way through the dark streets to an eerily empty hostel. We froze all night because no one of realized there was a heater in the room 😂 In the morning we asked the receptionist for a hike recommendation with the best view of the Matterhorn. When we walked out the door we only had to look up and there it was! It was stunning to say the least. We took the Five Lakes hike as suggested. I split from the group early so I could go at my own & much slower pace 😄 I hiked up to the hamlet of Findeln. There was not a soul in sight!! Everything was closed and it was incredibly peaceful. I wandered a bit and enjoyed the view of one of the most iconic mountains in the world. .

Hiking is all fun and games until you have to hold onto a tree so you don’t roll down the mountain😂 Chiang Mai has been absolutely incredible so far, there’s nothing like living amongst the clouds! How much would you love to see this beautiful country?!
You write your own story, so don’t let someone else edit it.
I just need you and some sunsets 💙
where I’d rather be spending my monday 💚
Headed out for some more Autumn* fun at the lake. *If it doesn’t snow again and skip right to winter!
Everyone's posting pumpkin patches & PSL's.. I've got something else on my mind right now 💭
