Kenny Dalglish has identified Andy Robertson as a Liverpool role-model.
The Scottish full-back was playing amateur football six seasons ago after being released by Celtic at youth level and is now first-choice for both club and country after joining the Reds in 2017.
“When you sign for a very big club, it can go one of two ways,” Kenny said. “Players don’t always make their mark – but you can hardly say that about Andy.
For Andy to be where he was just seven years ago to where he is now, is a classic example to any young footballer that you should never give up and never stop believing.
Indeed, to young players up and down the UK who are freed every year by the big clubs, Andy is a role model.
He has displayed just what can be achieved by hard work, perseverance and dedication.
I have to admit I’m delighted to see him commit his future to Liverpool. For me, there are few, if any, better than him in his position.”

Atletico Mineiro defender Emerson is on Arsenal and Liverpool's radar.
The 20-year-old is enjoying a fine debut season with the Brazilian club since arriving earlier this year.
Emerson is contracted until 2022 but is already attracting interest from Europe with as many as 14 clubs said to be interested.
Barcelona have identified the youngster as a possible summer addition as they eye a new full-back, reports Mundo Deportivo.
But they face competition with Arsenal and Liverpool both interested in the full-back as well as fellow Premier League side Watford.
Juventus and Inter Milan are also keen as are Borussia Dortmund, Porto, Valencia and others.
Arsenal could look to bring in a new right-back this summer with Hector Bellerin ruled out for up to nine months.
The Spaniard ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the weekend win over Chelsea and won't play again this term.
Liverpool meanwhile have defensive problems of their own but Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are not long-term absentees.

The fomer Reds mildfielder Vladimir Smicer believes Jurgen Klopp’s side are different to the ones who failed to deliver the title in the last 29 years.
“Of course it is a long wait for the title but you can’t plan when you win,” he said.
“The Liverpool players have the feeling this year they can go all the way. That would make me happy.
We are so good offensively, anyone can score and, after adding some very important players – Alisson Becker for example – all these steps make the team better.
Klopp keeps his best players and adds Fabinho, Shaqiri and Keita make the team better.
It seems they are happy and they feel there is a real chance to win the league this year.”

Dirk Kuyt says Steven Gerrard will do things his own way as he forges his managerial career.
Gerrard has impressed during his time at Rangers after arriving in the summer with the Ibrox outfit challenging for the SPL title this term.
“When Steven just became a coach with the Liverpool youths, I talked to him about the road he was going to follow,” Kuyt told De Telegraaf.
“He made a conscious choice to leave Liverpool right away.
He wants to develop himself as a coach outside the spotlights of the Premier League.
Glasgow Rangers is a big club. His dream will be to eventually become a coach at Liverpool.
In order to get there, he also travels his own way.”

RB Leipzig stop negotiations for Timo Werner as they confirm that they look for him to stay at the club for the next 2 to 3 years and if they get an offer from Bayern that they probably won't reject it. So it turns out we weren't first in the race for him after all.
Alberto Moreno is set to leave Liverpool on a free at the end of the season. 💭🔴
- In recent weeks, Firmino surpassed former team-mate Philippe Coutinho in becoming the leading Brazilian goalscorer in Premier League history.
The Liverpool forward now has 45 since arriving from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015. But he is confident there is plenty more to come.
"I am proud of that, but never satisfied," he said.
"I always want more, to grow and develop further every day with objectives and targets to achieve.
I don't want to stop here. I want to crack on and develop even further and make a name for myself.
"I'm really happy to be playing all the time, of course, and I'm in good physical health, thank God. As long as I'm fit I want to play all the time, helping the team towards victory. That's it, I'm very content and hope to be playing even more."
Firmino notched his first hat-trick as a professional in the 5-1 win over Arsenal last month, a treble that was completed when Mohamed Salah passed on penalty-taking duties for Liverpool's second spot kick of the match.
"No, I wasn't surprised," said the Brazilian of Salah's gesture. "I was really happy with his unselfish act of giving me the ball and once again I thank him for it."

According to the experts at CIES Football Observatory, Xherdan Shaqiri's value has increased by £35.5million to £48.5m. Fabinho’s has increased by a reported £41million, meaning he is now worth £76m. Alisson’s new value is £93million - a huge increase of £26million.
Liverpool’s outgoings will also have increased. As well as their signings, the club’s wage bill is expected to go up from the £207.5m figure of 2016-17. Player wages at most of the big six clubs have risen by between 10% and 13% for the following year.
Although Liverpool also spent heavily in the 2017-18 season — with Virgil van Dijk joining for £75 million, plus Mohamed Salah, Naby Keïta, Andrew Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain — only a proportion of their transfer fees will appear in the accounts for that year.

Comment Liverpool's greatest legend...
Do you like this design? Which kit supplier would you prefer Reds? 🔴 #LFC #YNWA
With Moreno probably leaving in the summer .. this means that we probably need a new back up left back. I think the best option would be Ryan Bertrand , he's flexible and would be perfect for us going forward competing in competitions such as the FA cup without needed to use first team or inexperienced players. If you were the manager of Liverpool which LB would you sign?
Gary Neville says Liverpool have had a big advantage in the Premier League title race.
The former United defender believes that Liverpool playing ahead of Man City each week gives the Reds the edge over their title rivals.
Asked what advantage is gained by playing first, Neville replied: "A big difference, it's preferable. There was a period where we were playing and going for leagues, and we felt big advantages were gained by playing first.
It would always be preferable for teams involved in a title race, to play first and get the opportunity to put points on the board and either go further ahead or close the gap.
There's no doubt it's a different type of pressure. City will absolutely want to be closing that gap to one point and asking Liverpool have they got it within them to withstand the pressure of playing a day or two after."
He added: "The emotion surrounding a Liverpool title run-in, like we saw a few years ago, is going to come again. It's a huge club, having not won it for well over 25 years and the fact it means so much, Jurgen Klopp brings that sort of passion too... that moment is coming to come where it gets really ramped up.
I interviewed Klopp a few weeks ago and he plays it down, but he's been here before with Dortmund. A lot of the players haven't, a lot haven't been through a title run-in with Liverpool.
City will want to play on their experience and composure and it does count, but you've got to be in there, neck and neck, and City will want to make sure going into April and May, the last six or seven games, Liverpool are under the maximum pressure, which means level or just in front.
Then Liverpool will have a lot of questions to answer."
