Those that know me really well know one of things I am passionate about is Maternal-related issues especially, pregnancy, delivery,post delivery period and how the workplace can help mothers by phasing them back to work after maternity leave.
This week is World Maternal Mental Health week and this year's theme is #RealMotherhood #NoShame
Getting Real about motherhood is healthy for everyone.There are some popular myths of motherhood out there that keeps all moms judging themselves by unrealistic standards and,once we can't achieve these standards then we start feeling like we bad or incompetent mothers and it somehow can lead to Maternal Mental Health.
You would hear some Mothers say "I breastfed for 2years, you should do it, why are you not doing it?", "my baby is drinking water now, how come yours isn't?" No one gave us baby manuals after delivery, so you,I will do me, different babies, different techniques,different mums, different experiences.
If you see a fellow mum or a new mum struggling just be nice and be supportive where you can. Maybe you've been through what she is going through or just be that shoulder she can cry on.
Let's get real about motherhood you never know who you will inspire.
