/ Write to express, not impress! /
How many times do people come up to you and tell you not to post your thoughts on social media? How many times do people call it ‘attention seeking’? My friend, it is important to name your emotions. They say, don’t show the world your weak side, I say WHY NOT? I’m a human being. I feel, I cry, I laugh, I smile. My heart aches and yes I make mistakes. I don’t believe in filtering my thoughts before I put them up. I don’t write to grab attention or wait for them to ask me if everything is alright. I write to express. I write so I can comfort those who can relate. Half the people in the world are scared to express their true feelings because of the judgment that follows. I don’t want to fit in, I want to stand out. I want to make these people comfortable with sharing their thoughts, I want them to awaken their own selves. Everytime I write something that even one person can relate to, it makes me feel like I have succeeded. It’s not because “Oh my god, you write so well!” it’s solely because I get so many messages where people I actually go like, “Hey, I feel the same way but I am too scared to express my sentiments.” or things like “How are you so comfortable talking about your mental illness. Don’t you fear their reactions?”. What is there to be afraid of? Let them say what they have to. I think this is my way of spreading awareness, this is my way of letting those hidden souls crying in a corner, fighting their thoughts know that you’re not alone.
Believe in yourself, people will always try to bring you down. They don’t get it, they really don’t and no they won’t get it until they’re at your place and I pray to god that they don’t even get there, because I know what darkness feels like, I know your demons are trying to hold you back. Don’t be sorry for doing what your heart says, you’re here to express and not impress.
Don’t try to be what they want you to be, you’ve got beautiful worlds residing in your soul. Breathe. Smile. :)
