Athlete spotlight on Sara in West Virginia! We started working together in April by referral of her sister Beka, another Strong Finish athlete! @sgood01
has been in the military service for 11 years. She loves and cherishes every moment. She got to serve with her father and still serves with her older sister. She is married with 2 dogs (Captain and Willow) and 2 cats. She is the proud wife of a policeman and service member. Sara came to me after having had 2 knee surgeries for a torn meniscus and had been cleared to start running again. We've implemented a consistent and manageable schedule of running, strength training and strengthening with occasional cross training. She is getting her speed and endurance back, focusing on nutrition and fueling and very excited to PR the Chicago marathon in 12 weeks!!

Mornings are my favorite time to run and here is why:⠀
⭐️I don’t have to think about it, I just get out of bed and GO!⠀
⭐️I start my work day off with a runner’s high. ⠀
⭐️I already feel accomplished first thing in the morning. ⠀
⭐️Summers in AZ, I have to run in the morning because it’s too hot the rest of the day. ⠀
⭐️I get to see these beautiful sunrises! ⠀

I’m coming for you 21.1! Road to Hope Half Marathon training with #Runkeeper
I’ve been trying the MAF method while I train for my half marathon next month. It’s basically heart rate based training to increase your aerobic capacity and therefore help you to run faster in the long run, even tho in the short term I’ve had to really slow down in order to stay in the 140-150 bpm range. It’s been difficult for me but today I compared my 5 mile MAF test from June 9 (left) to my stats from today’s test (right) and it looks like maybe it’s working. The weather can impact this, it’s possible it was less humid today than last month or a number of other factors, but I was excited to see improvement.
Almost 10 min faster, lower average heart rate, and lower max heart rate! We’ll see if this helps me race any better or not.

Fun weekend of camping in Letchworth State Park this past weekend! ⛺️ 🌲 ☀️
We had perfect weather during the day, cool temperatures at night for sleeping in the tent, bonfires, a little TOO MUCH food 🤭, visits from Rocky the trash panda 🐼, lots of fun games around the fire, and an epic 7-mike trail run/ hike 🏃🏻♀️
It was so nice to unplug for a few days too and reconnect with nature. The scenes from our run were GORGEOUS and it makes me so excited for our summer trail running and Ragnar Relay in August 🤩
Today will definitely be a day to detox and get back in track with lots of water, movement, and good food. And prep week has started for my new lift and HIIT program that starts Monday! There’s still time to join me for 8 weeks of only 4 weekly workouts, a built-in weekly cheat day, and lots of daily tips and motivation from your truly! Lifting has made ALL the difference in my running, and I’m so excited to see where I can take myself this summer 😎
