Liverpool legend Steve McMahon has urged Trent Alexander-Arnold to soak up every bit of the World Cup and even believes the youngster should keep a diary to ensure the memories never fade.
"Absorb it - be like a sponge," he said.
"Every training session, every time you get on a flight, and especially when he is in Russia, take in everything. Look around you in the stadiums that he goes to.
He won't be first choice - I'm unsure whether he'll be second choice. Gareth Southgate is quite astute and I think he's bringing Trent for future tournaments. If something happens to Kieran Trippier, he can put Kyle Walker there. But hopefully Trent does get a chance.
But even if he doesn't get a chance of playing, take the whole experience in. And you know what? I'd tell him to write a diary. I wish I'd have done that (at the 1990 World Cup). I'd wish I'd done that daily and across the month to keep my England World Cup memories as a document.
I'd have tagged pictures to it and kept it as my own personal World Cup diary, and kept shirts that I would have got and swapped, and the caps that I would have won. It would be something to look back on in 30 years time and think, 'I'd forgotten I'd done that'."
Asked where he sees Alexander-Arnold playing in the long-term, he said: "Not midfield - I think he can play there, and Jurgen Klopp has done very well playing him in there at times. But I think his destiny is wing-back as he's athletic and he whips in a great ball.
And Liverpool play as if he's a wing-back - they don't have to play three at the back for him to bomb forward, as he does that anyway.
If England were to call upon him, I'm sure he would do a great job. He wouldn't let them down, and that's why Gareth Southgate has put him in the squad."
