Lunch situation on the first day at work😐
On a serious note, this monument was built to remember the Great Irish Famine. In 1848-50, the barracks which was the Immigration Depot then housed Irish orphan girls, and in 1850s and 1860s, famine survivors, which are mostly immigrant women and children, stayed at the depot.
The names etched into the glass represent the people who died or were forced to emigrate. The table cuts the wall, representing the famine experience on one side and a new world on the other.
