Went for my annual ultrasound for my thyroid tonight. Last time they found a nodule but said I didn’t need to worry. Still makes me sick to my stomach with anxiety waiting for those results though. Here’s hoping I get normal results back 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 Started taking thyroid medication a month ago because what’s left of it has been struggling to manage my hormones and my metabolism. Girls and women with PCOS are more likely to have parents and siblings with Type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance, compared to women without PCOS. It is Low Carb day and I truly love low carb day!! I get creative cause momma can't love on grilled chicken and greens. We have low carb days so that we deplete are glycogen stores and really burn our fat stores for energy. Energy just to run our bodies and energy to digest our food; physical exercise is just a bonus :) I had bacon, tomatoes and eggs in the fridge and about 15 mind to spare running to the store for lettuce. So I pulled out an oldie but a goodie BLT salads with avocado and egg with homemade ranch dressing, dairy free. My kids love it and I adore it. I finished the day the 46 net carbs and I loved my dinner. Finally! Lunch! Grilled chx breast, naturally brined #fermentedcabbage #daisycottagecheese I experienced some hair loss when vegan. Don was just reading how restricting protein can cause hair loss in a few ways incl depression of thyroid function, lack of appropriate amino acids esp certain ones and liver needling enuf protein esp if low-carb for gloconeogenesis. My hair falling out has been happening again recently. I figure if I’m petite I need fewer calories than avg therefore my % protein will be even higher to help not over consume fat and calories but perhaps for even more reasons. Eat protein w/ enuf healthy sat. fats to feel satisfied. You know your body best! You know if something is wrong. You know when you don’t feel quite right. Don’t let anyone tell you your “bloods are normal, it’s all in your head, here’s a script for an anti-depressant...” . Clinically I see this the most commonly with two symptoms- period pain and severe fatigue. Don’t accept “your blood tests are normal” when you know something is wrong. Period pain is not normal (could be endometriosis), nor is constant exhaustion (could be thyroid, despite the inadequacy of the blood tests)

Post #2 of 2: Now I know there are some people out there that are either prescribed T3 (which is very rare) and other who take it because they think its cool. My opinion, most people are playing with fire and most people actually don’t need it. Why you ask? IN the last post we talked about adrenal weakness. Most people with thyroid problems have them because of over burdened adrenals Why is that? Because fuel is not available for the thyroid to burn. BUT, what if we live and eat in a way to reduce anything that can effect thyroid hormone conversion and provide the body with the necessary fuel and nutrients to support thyroid metalic pathways. Well overtime we will get a reduction in TSH, a regulation of T4 and especially an increase in T3. Why? ✅The stress hormones that block thyroid hormone conversion are gone ✅Energy is being stored and used to convert thyroid hormone ✅Thyroid hormone is being used in the cell to produce energy 🔹 Reason #2 : Low iron leads to poor T4 > T3 conversion. Now don’t run out and start taking iron, which is a toxic heavy metal. What I am saying is that because of the stressed state you are in, which puts a huge burden on the adrenals and thyroid as mentioned, our body moves towards conservation mode. What is heightened is what is need to freeze or flight, everything else either slows down or shuts down. One of those systems is the GI system and HCL. When lower stomach acid and inflammation are present, our ability to absorb iron decreases. Also, heavy periods can cause a loss of too much iron. 🔹 Reason #3 : Nutrient deficiencies such as zinc, selenium, B12, Vitamin D and magnesium can play a huge role in creating a picture of hypothyroidism. I am not saying that taking these will fix everything, but I am saying that most of these nutrients that our found in our food and life, play a huge role in supporting thyroid health. 🔹 Lesson for the day: Make sure your foundation is set, mind + nutrition + lifestyle, prior to jumping on any medication.

POST #1 of 2: You read about the wonders of taking T3 of natural desiccated thyroid (NDT). Remember, the adrenals regulate the availability of fuel so the thyroid has fuel to burn. No fuel coming in stimulates the adrenals to work overtime in order to provide fuel to the system. But this comes at a cost, a metabolic energy cost. If our system is already pumping out adrenaline, cortisol, etc and our system is in a stressed state, adding T3 can easily push our system over the edge. Our liver is not storing glycogen, we can’t convert thyroid hormone, our energy needs are not being met and overall we are in a compensatory state. A little #psykhehairextensions love from this beauty 💜💜 . . . The psykhe hair piece has completely changed my life! About 3 years ago I started having hair loss and breakage that I tried to figure out with my hair lady and who also happens to be the inventor of this wonderful hair piece. I recently had a baby and thought the hair issues was due to that but unfortunately it was getting pretty severe to the point that I just knew something was wrong. My instincts tell me “she doesn’t have long left”, my heart says “she’s stubborn, she may come out of it” my head is thinking of everything else but the inevitable. ⠀ ⠀ I have been lucky enough to have chosen an incredible woman to be my Mum, that has guided me + been there for every moment in my life, good + bad. My boys share incredible bonds with her. To say we are going to be devastated when she rebirths is an understatement. ⠀ ⠀ We lost my Dad over 5 years ago, a loss that ripped my heart open, simultaneously with my marriage breakdown. I’ve never experienced pain quite like it. I know that pain is ahead of me, my boys are starting to feel it. Their badge of honour for having loved someone so hard. Yet, at the moment, I feel nothing. My body has lived through enough trauma over the years that it smells it a mile away + has somehow managed to devise a weird coping mechanism that is able to temporarily emotionally detach from highly stressful + painful situations, like a numb switch flicks on. ⠀ It may appear to others that I’m dead inside + am naive, ignorant, in total denial: tbh I really don’t care - I know what’s happening... My body is in prep mode, wrapping me in a Wonder Woman type of invisible bubble wrap + numbing me for the inevitable blow. Meanwhile it allows me to function in daily life, be a mother, get dinner on the table + doula my beloved Mum until she reunites with my beautiful Dad. Every post I make is with intention, and right now, there’s only numb, so, this will be my last post for a while.⠀ ⠀ Stay close to your loves + tell them you love them every chance you have.
