What are factors that increase thyroid hormone? 🍎 - Eating high calorie diets, fruits, and vegetables all can increase thyroid activity. Eating sugar does too, although transitorily, an effect that perhaps explains why certain people like eating sugar! In contrast, eating too much protein (meat and poultry, or eating very little (such as in the case in low calorie diets, fasting or malnutrition) can considerably lower thyroid activity by slowing down the conversion of T4 to T3 (the active form of thyroid hormone that makes all the metabolic activity go in your body) that’s essential for optimal thyroid activity, and by lowering the production of both thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland. 🍗 - I just took an advanced hormone training by Dr Thierry Hertoghe and he suggested not eating a ton of protein and having more fruits for dinner to optimize conversion of T4 to T3. However, I truly believe there is no one diet that fits all. You must find balance and experiment with your body to see what type of diet you feel best on. Moral of the story, don’t eliminate food groups without proper supplementation and supervision and try to stay as balanced as you can based on seasons, climate, and activity level. 😋 - #naturopathicmedicine #diet #thyroidhealth #hypothyroidism #weightloss #intermittantfasting #adrenalfatigue #wellness #hormones #fruit #vegetarian #protein #energy
Isn't this a beautiful picture? Can you imagine what a sad life it would be if you deprived yourself of occasional treats that you enjoy? If looking at a trip to the local donut shop with your kids on Saturday morning, or your baby's 1st Birthday Cake, gave you anxiety, dread, and guilt?⁣ ⁣ Ladies, deprivation diets and long term carb restriction is NOT the way to go! Let me introduce you to carb cycling!⁣ ⁣ Carb cycling is the intentional variation of your carbohydrate intake. This is an alternation of low carb days and high carb days. Low carb days allow you to deplete your glycogen stores, to give your body the chance to dip into its fat stores for energy. High carb days rebuild those glycogen stores. ⁣ ⁣ How is this different than Keto or long term low carb diets? Carb cycling literally allows you to have your cake and eat it too. You get to reap the benefits of low carb, by putting these strategies into place a few days a week, but then you get to rebuild those glycogen stores and re-feed your body with ALL THE CARBS. Of course, this doesn't mean you get to eat donuts and cake every day (wouldn't that be nice?) but you DO get to enjoy colorful fruits and vegetables, giving your body all those micronutrients, vitamins and minerals that you would be missing out on, on a no carb diet. AND, you can even incorporate fun treats like donuts and birthday cake every week. Because, lets face it....who wants to live life without donuts? Not me. ⁣ ⁣ If you want more details on this cutting edge strategy and to learn how you can implement it yourself, click the link in my bio for my FREE guide, Carb Cycling 101!

31 days of frankincense ........... 💜 Frankincense is amazing for our cellular health, the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier makes it amazing for all the cells in our body. I love using frankincense daily in my healthy thyroid function roller bottle blend. When I first started using oils I had researched hypothyroidism, which I have, and found many of these oils were used in various recipes. Being who I am I decided I didn't want to leave anyone out and threw them all in together. I cannot tell you how much I love, love, love the smell of this blend! I rub on my thyroid at least twice daily, although I really should add an additional roller bottle to my purse so I can use it on the go. 💜 My recipe: 10 drops each in a 10ml roller bottle topped with fractionated coconut oil. Peppermint, frankincense, myrrh, clove, lemongrass, and lavender. 💜 #31daysoffrankincense #31daysoffrank #doterrafrankincense #hypothyroidism #healthythyroidfunction #thyroidfunction #healthythyroid #thyroid #thyroidproblems #thyroidhealing #thyroidhealth #thyroidissues #thyroidawareness #thyroidsupport #hashimotosthyroiditis #hashimotos #adrenals #itsoilgood #itsoilgoodyall

A study done by JAMA Psychiatry found that adolescent girls on progestin-only birth control, such as Mirena IUD were significantly more at risk for depression. Progestin is one of the most common synthetic hormones in hormonal birth control, and while similar to progesterone, they have different effects on the body. Progesterone improves brain health and is required for GABA production, while progestin degrades serotonin has been linked to anxiety and depression. "Stone of Courage and Protection" Though the stone of March, the last part of my winter, the shade of aquamarine is one of my favorite colors throughout the winter months and I favor it most over other common winter color trends. In ancient times, aquamarine was carried by men at sea to protect them during their travels and shield them from drowning. Although it is considered to align all chakras, aquamarine is often associated with the throat chakra as well, therefore being a stone that encourages healthy & effective verbal communication. Other qualities of this stone are: 🌊Calm phobias & fears 🌊Intellectual growth and inner knowledge (great stone for students) 🌊Problem solving 🌊Tolerance, Fairness 🌊Heart Chakra, Innermost truth 🌊Dissolve unhealthy patterns 🌊Meditation, calm overactive mind Physical Associations are 🌊Throat, Thyroid 🌊Pituitary 🌊Liver 🌊Autoimmune Diseases Source: HealingCrystals.com
I struggled with digestive problems my WHOLE LIFE. No joke! . ▷ I ACTUALLY thought it was normal to have a sore stomach every day. . I knew where ALL the public washrooms are. #truestory . I also struggled with symptoms of hypothyroid/hashimoto’s since elementary school. . However, it wasn’t until I was in University and had on onset of severe anxiety that I was lucky enough to have a psychiatrist that sent me for blood work and low and behold I wasn’t going nuts and the anxiety was actually because of my thyroid disorder. . I quickly went home and looked up hypothyroid and I swear I had all the symptoms listed. . ▶︎ It took a few practitioners, a couple years, several different approaches and crippling IBS until I finally went to see a nutritionist that changed my life. . I went from crappy vegan to paleo/whole30 and the first 10 days were HELL but on day 11 I got my life back and then some. . I couldn’t believe that feeling this good was an option. . I didn’t realize that I could feel amazing on regular basis. . Speaking of stress, our body views too few calories as one too! Generally speaking, as I know there are ways to intermittent fast and challenge our body to eat less, I'm talking about over a period of time, for sustainable weight loss and instilling the right habits. ⠀ -⠀ When we don't get enough food, our body kinda freaks out and holds onto weight because now it's not sure when we're going to eat again. This is also why yo-yo dieting can actually cause weight gain in the long run as it messes with our thyroid (i.e. metabolism) to a point where it's just exhausted! And probably we are too! ⠀ -⠀ Consistency is key- and if there are these types of stressors in your life, let's work on your adrenal health! Testing is a great way to get a sense of levels, as well as even just understanding how you wake up in the morning and ease of falling asleep. We got this! Then we can tailor all those fancy natural remedies specific to you! ⠀ -⠀ #stress #stressbalance #eatrealfood #dontdepriveyourself #weight #weightlossjourney #weightloss #sustainableweightloss #loseweightovertime #consistency #stressmanagement #cortisol #adrenals #salivatest #adrenalhealth #endocrinehealth #knowyourpatterns #identifyyourstress #thyroid #thyroidhealth #dieting #healthyliving #healthyeating
To soy or not to soy, that is the question 🧐.. - Soy is probably one of the most controversial foods on the planet (ok maybe slightly over exaggerated) BUT i find that it is something that I get asked about frequently in clinic 🤔🤔. - One of the biggest questions I get asked is, ‘Will eating soy mess up my thyroid?’. - Clearly no one wants to sacrifice their thyroid health for a bit of tofu, but particularly for the vegans out there soy (non-GMO, organic) is a fabulous source of protein, zinc and calcium. SO it’s super important we set the record straight as you could be missing out on a quality nutritional food source. - Because this required a longer explanation than what’s acceptable on an Instagram post, I’ve written up a blog post for those that would like to uncover the truth behind soy and thyroid function (if you’re short on time scroll to the end for a summary.) For the nerds out there I have summarised some of the research in the post 🤓🤓. - Link is in my bio. - Curious... is there anything else that concerns you about eating soy that you want answered? 🧐
And many other varying and random symptoms. 90% of the clients I see have sub optimal liver function. ⁣ 🤖⁣ Chronic liver dysfunction leads to increased oxidative stress & inflammation in the body which then has a cascading effect on our health.⁣ 🤖⁣ Ensuring all phases of the liver detoxification process (there are 3) is essential for good health. Liver health is ALWAYS one of the first things I address when developing a treatment plan for my clients. Without proper functioning of the liver in breaking down compounds into water soluble molecules, clearing out these toxins, making cholesterol, secreting bile to help breakdown and absorb nutrients will all be adversely impacted. 🤖⁣ Yes liver detoxification is a real thing.⁣ 🤖⁣ Yes there are many things that can inhibit or enhance the 3 phases of liver detoxification.⁣ 🤖⁣ But properly enhancing phase 1,2&3 of liver detox needs to be done under supervision and with guidance with effective herbs and supplements that also help alleviate the damage associated with the by products produced in these processes.⁣ 🤖⁣ If you are drinking every weekend, eating a highly processed diet, take regular pharmaceutical medication or a history of long term medication intake, history of glandular fever or Epstein-Barr, or have had occupation exposure to chemicals (hairdressers, agricultural workers, painters, renovators, mechanics, florist). You will most likely need some help enhancing liver function. ⁣ 🤖⁣ Interesting fact: Our liver is the only organ that has the ability to regenerate itself (essentially regrow itself). There are actually herbal medicines that have been shown to enhance the regeneration of liver cells, one of them, milk thistle is one of my favourite herbs to use.⁣ 🤖⁣ Had a big long weekend? Ready to reverse some of the damage and get your liver ready for the silly season?⁣ ✨✨Come and see me. I have appointments available From 3rd January Link in bio. Or DM me for more information.✨✨✨✨

Who knew that little butterfly shaped gland could be so damn important! But seriously it really is! • The thyroid (aka master gland) has significant influence over every organ system & process in your body. This is because thyroid hormone regulates metabolism & body temperature & therefore required by practically all cells. • • If you don’t have thyroid dysfunction yourself I’m sure you know someone who does because it unfortunately has become an incredibly common health concern many women & men are battling. Therefore now more than ever we all really need to be aware of this precious gland & look after it as best we can. We also need to be aware of the symptoms for both under & over active function of our thyroid to best prevent these conditions from affecting more people lives in the future. • • I love this topic so much so I’ve written as little blog about it (follow the link in the bio) which helps you understand exactly what your incredible thyroid does & how to spot when yours may not we working optimally. • Look out for Part 2 where I share my advice on how to nutritionally support your thyroid on a daily basis. #thyroid #thyroidhealth #hypothyroidism #naturopathy #alternativemedicine #hormonehealth #endocrine #holistichealing #holistichealth #prevention #awareness #wellness #health
VITAMIN D IS ESSENTIAL TO CONCEIVING: one of the obstacles that you may not be aware of of when it comes to conception is Vitamin D deficiency. The is a link between higher pregnancy rates and high levels of Vitamin D. Women who use vitamin D prior to ivf are known to experience a higher chance of fertilisation and implantation. It is responsible for balancing hormones, regulates your period, supports your thyroid, supports your immune system and can aid conception in women who have PCOS. Tip: try to get at least 20 minutes of sunlight a day or consume a supplement that will aid the vitamin D levels in your body (ideally a liquid form of Vitamin D). Take it up to 3 months before conception. #women #uterus #healthiskey #healthyeating #hormones #ovulation #pcos #cycle #balancinghormones #pregnancy #naturalremedy #remedy #knowledge #thyroidhealth #circulation #wisdom #eggquality #pregnant #mothers #miracle #thyroid #youcandoit  #ivf #egghealth #infertility #antiinflammatory  #healthyeating #toxins   #immunesystem #supplements #vitaminD
First off, trying to look normal in a bath robe with wet hair is fun! Haha try it! . Second of all the reason for this photo is; it’s the first time I’ve been confident enough to tilt my head fully back and wash my hair in the bath! Haha I mean #thyroidectomygoals right there! . So, it’s been 6 weeks now, outwards it’s healing really well. I still get an uncomfortable almost awkward pain when yawning and gulping down drinks (seems strange!) but other than that it’s almost pain free. Apart from the odd toddler elbow in the throat I’m doing great. 75mg seems to have done the trick, it’s early days medication wise but they seem happy with my blood test results too. . Any questions relating to surgery please don’t hesitate to ask. ••• Lets talk about the effects of anxiety/anti depressants••• I began my journey of recovery by resorting to an anxiety medication and an anti depressant that I was on for 3 years. During this time I noticed significant changes in my sleep patterns, changes in my appetite, skin, weight, and etc. After trying multiple types of medications to only get different side effects to each some as bad as getting sick, I gave up on medication. Midway I had started my journey of psycho therapy with my therapist, which I still undergo and has changed my life. After my horrid experience with anxiety medications and anti depressants I have become “anti medication”. Although I encourage people to do what’s best for them, there are plenty of health factors in taking medication. 5 months ago I was diagnosed with thyroid disease. I had been on a train to NYC when I could feel a large lump in my neck. Ever since then I have to get ultrasounds every 2 months on my neck to make sure there is no extra growth or tumors, I have to have endless amounts of blood work done every year to check my levels, and some days I am so tired and defeated. My doctors came to the conclusion that my medications had caused my thyroid to flare up. This is the reason for my weight gain and the random patch of hair loss as pictured in the second picture. Along with a thyroid problem I also was diagnosed about a year ago with gastritis and 3 peptic stomach ulcers due to anxiety attacks. My attacks wouldn’t make me shake or stop breathing, they would make me get sick. People don’t understand that mental illness is not only emotional.. it’s physical. No matter how much weight I lose, how much exercise I do, how healthy I eat, how I regulate my sleep... this is something I will live with for the rest of my life and will take medication for, forever. So please, when you are judging someone based upon their weight or anything... please take a second and step back and understand that you should never judge someone because you never know what they are going through. I used to stress about this so much in the past, but now I embrace it, create awareness, and work hard to move forward and make myself healthy💞

I used to grab the quickest, cheapest meal on the go. Then be hangry 30 mins later! I used to think wow my metabolism must be so high it's like I ate nothing! Hahaha I was so silly.😂 The cycle would continue throughout the day and of course it would spill over into the weekends, too. Nowadays it's so different! I still aim for quick, cheap and convenient - just in a different way. Yes it took a few mins to throw together before leaving the house but it's premium fuel to get me through those crowds and long lines (why am I always finding myself returning things at the busiest time of year?!) - not leaving me feeling sluggish or hangry just moments later! Point is, finding the balance is not impossible you just have to put in the same effort you would when you choose what to buy at a food court. You take care in packing healthy food for your kiddos (and hope they eat it!) so why wouldn't you do the same for you? p.s. I cracked a window opened to let out the smells of the hardboiled eggs in my lunch today🤣turned up the Christmas tunes and it was the best lunch in my car I've ever had! 😋

I know it's been a while since posting my last #CookieLaDoulaNerdSeries topic, and while I had the intention of posting one topic per month, this holiday season and traveling has gotten the best of me. With this topic I want to focus on iodine in a three-part post, uploaded over a three day period so stay tuned! A few months ago I also posted a three-part video to my IGTV, so be sure to check that out as well. — What is iodine? Iodine is an essential mineral that plays an important role in everyday bodily function. On the periodic table of elements it is classified as a halogen, alongside other commonly known elements including bromide/bromine, fluoride/fluorine, and chloride/chlorine. The latter elements should be AVOIDED completely (or as much as possible) as I will explain further in Part Three. — Why is iodine important? The thyroid needs iodine in order to function at its optimal level. If you are unfamiliar with the thyroid and its importance to our entire body, the thyroid secretes hormones which helps regulate metabolism as well as providing hormones that are vital to our reproductive organs. Among many other uses, iodine is also important for our brain as it supports healthy brain development. Iodine deficiency can manifest in a variety of ways and it is important to be able to identify them to allow for proper treatment. Iodine deficiency can lead to thyroid issues, including hypothyroidism and goiter, fibrocystic breast disease, PCOS and ovarian cysts, fibromyalgia, and lymphedema. Keep in mind that this list is not all inclusive, nor are these issues exclusively a result of iodine deficiency, however if you are aware that you are deficient it might be worth it to speak to an iodine specialist about incorporating iodine supplements into your daily life. As you can see, iodine is crucial to women's overall health, including reproductive health, and being deficient can lead to a host of issues for the female body. — Remember to always visit my website for resources and recommended reading. Stay tuned for Part Two: How does iodine benefit fetal development?

CHRISTMAS IS AS GOOD A TIME AS ANY to practice the daily food and lifestyle habits in favour of your health and weight goals // . Don't let this festive period be your excuse to put healthy habits on hold, if anything it's even more of a reason to keep them going. Once healthy habits have become part of who you are, part of your identity, then nothing can get in the way of them 🤩 . Are yours simply part of who you are, or are they still feeling like a bit of a chore? . Once those healthy nutrition & lifestyle habits are part of who you are you will know: 🌟What your body, and all its cells and organs, needs for vibrant health, energy and balance. Not just by way of the latest “health” fad, whether that’s a new type of diet that promises to keep you young, healthy and lean, or the latest exercise craze, and you'll provide your body with those things 80-90% of the time, allowing some room for flexibility . 🌟The foods that nourish your cells and organs and make you FEEL incredible, and you'll want that over and above a minute of intense sweet flavour . 🌟How to move your body to get the blood flowing and circulating around, to be strong, fit, and supple, and be OK with rest days, understanding that they too are a key part of the process . 🌟Know what YOUR body needs in order to thrive and feel GOOD both mentally and physically and do those things, such as getting to bed earlier, instead of battling through in survival mode . 🌟That it's NOT selfish to put YOUR health and wellbeing, both mental and physical first - and THEN you can be more for the people around you, and of course for yourself 💜😘 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌟How to maintain your health and weight results for life . Will this be your identity in 2019? . Did you know that 3 ounces of shrimp contains about 23% of the daily recommended intake of iodine? 🍤 . It absorbs some of the iodine present in seawater, making it an excellent source of iodine! 🌊 . My holiday stress buster #17 last night was about YOU ARE ENOUGH. I mentioned this in my video. If you are feeling that you aren't enough, go watch my video on Facebook at cherylmhealthmuse. In fact, watch the entire series. You ARE enough. I give tons of ideas to have a stress free holiday in each video, so they will be worth the follow and they are all short and sweet. And remember, beauty comes from the heart and all the love that you give. I figured out as a child, some people were beautiful to me, and others were ugly and it had nothing to do with what they looked like. Give love everywhere everyday. You are beautiful. You don't want a congratulations for your face. You want congratulations for your heart! It’s common knowledge that fiber is beneficial for good digestion. Soluble fiber absorbs water and helps add bulk to your stool. Insoluble fiber acts like a giant toothbrush, helping your digestive tract keep everything moving along. Soluble fiber is found in oat bran, legumes, nuts and seeds, while vegetables, such as Brussel sprouts, spinach, Apples 🍏 I cant do much Whole grains but for those that can Great. 👍These are all good sources of insoluble fiber. A high-fiber diet has been linked to a reduced risk of digestive conditions, including ulcers, reflux, hemorrhoids, diverticulitis and IBS. #Highfiberdiet #veggies
A quick guide to help you through the craziness of label reading. Let's be real, label reading ain't easy. Sometimes I can glance at labels and know if it’s legit or no bueno, but most times I still have to look up ingredients. ⠀ But these ingredients are my first line of defense. Save this and use it as a pocket guide to help you too! ⠀ 1️⃣Anything that lists fragrance or perfume (unless they are using essential oils, then maybe... but you should just shop my link then😏). "Fragrance" is like the black box of ingredients. Manufacturers can hide thousands of chemicals (~3000) under this one term because it's protected by federal trade law. ⠀ 2️⃣Ingredients like PEG-100, PEG-40, PEG-8 etc. These have byproduct contamination concerns of 1,4 dioxane (a known carcinogen). ⠀ 3️⃣Ingredients with "eth" in the name like Sodium Laureth Sulfate. These ingredients have been what's called, ethoxylated and can also be contaminated with carcinogens like 1,4 dioxane. ⠀ 4️⃣Anything ending in "paraben." Ex: methylparaben or propylparaben. A recent study by the Silent Spring Institute showed that when parabens were introduced to cancer cells, it made them grow/reproduce 100x faster. ⠀ 5️⃣Any ingredient with "phthalate" like di-n-butyl phthalate or di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate may adversely affect reproduction + development. Some have been associated with cancer. ⠀ 6️⃣ Anything that lists: formaldehyde DMDM hydantoin Imidazolidinyl urea Diazolidinyl urea Quaternium-15 Bronopol (2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol) 5-Bromo-5-nitro-1,3-dioxane Hydroxymethylglycinate The FDA does not restrict the amount of formaldehyde that can be present in cosmetics sold in the U.S. 🤯😡 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💛Spread the word and tag someone you care about! 🌟Link in profile🌟
Are you fatigued, gaining weight or having trouble losing weight, experiencing thinning hair or extra dry skin? How is your thyroid health? These are common symptoms for a condition called hypothyroidism. Your thyroid health can easily be tested, but know that to fully assess thyroid health, you need to test a full range of thyroid markers, not just TSH. Check out my blog post discussing these tests in more detail. If you are interested in assessing your thyroid health, reach out to my office at 918-236-6122 for more information about testing. https://vibrantnaturalmedicine.com/thyroid-labs-explained-tsh-is-only-a-snapshot-of-the-full-picture/ #womenshealth #thyroidhealth #naturopathicdoctor #vibrantenergy #weightlosssupport #womensupportingwomen #healthandwellness #healthyhair #functionalmedicine #integrativemedicine #jenksoklahoma #tulsaoklahoma
"Can diet and nutrition reverse hypothyroid symptoms?" . . Diet alone? No. . . Diet/nutrition, using food as medicine, the right supplements and lifestyle... YES! . . I'm hypothyroid technically due to only having half a thyroid however my levels are in the OPTIMAL range even without medication (yes, there is a normal range and an optimal range of thyroid levels... you DEFINITELY want to live in the optimal range! Trust me... it's way better here) . . Hypothyroidism causes an entire slue of issues: tired/sluggish, constipation, thinning hair, weight gain or inability to lose weight, mood swings, anxiety etc.. . . By giving your body what it needs, it WILL work in your favor. Meaning, you take away the inflammation and other components that are causing harm (or causing your body to not work at it's best) and then replace it with foods, supplements, and other habits that let your body do it's job. . . So yes! You CAN improve hypothyroidism with food, supplements, and lifestyle changes!! . . The thing is, we just have to commit 100% to this lifestyle. . . When I was eating well before I added in the supplements and changed my lifestyle... I still needed medication. I still had a lot of thyroid problems. . . Once the entire picture came together- my body just clicked! My goofiness came out again, my anxiety went away, and I finally felt like me again. . . What are your hypothyroid symptoms doing to you? 👇👇👇

Salmon! Again! I eat a lot of it 🙃. . It’s a great source of omega 3 fatty acids, which are an essential nutrient, meaning your body can’t make it, you need to eat it. Omega 3s are antiinflammatory. . Salmon is also a good source of vitamin B12. B12 is found in animal foods only, so supplementing is important, very important, if you eat only plant foods because a deficiency of B12 can cause irreversible nerve damage. . Tonight's dinner. Steak bites, slightly overcooked Brussels sprouts because I sort of forgot they were in the oven 🤷‍♀️, and sauteed bok choy. Bok choy isn't a vegetable I cook with much at all, but it was in my most recent produce delivery, so I had to do something with it. Anyone else cook with bok choy? I only never saute it. In my attempts to test a world of cuisine in AIP (and stay off screens at night), I decided to try out my new #koreanpaleocookbook by @whatgreatgrandmaate and made a batch of kimchi! 😍 When I had reached out to Jean to ask how to substitute gochujang, the red chili paste often used in Korean cooking since I’m AIP, she recommended adding more garlic and ginger so I did and the flavor is wonderful (and I learned white kimchi exists)! I’ve been MIA on insta lately because I’m soaking up every minute with this gorgeous little man. I’m savouring all of those mouth-opening slobbery kisses, warm cuddles, gummy giggles & watching him discover the world through his eyes. I’m thankful everyday for him and for changing my doctor to one who believed I would be able to fall pregnant. . . On the old thyroid front - I was lucky enough to get nearly 5 months of breastfeeding done before I started back on meds. My levels went a little too high & I decided to stop feeding. . . Oh and I recently did a food intolerance test that identified foods that I can’t eat because my body is extremely intolerant to them — one of them is eggs 🙀🙀🙀 I was so surprised because I ate 2-3 a day! I’ll write more about this soon but let me know if there’s anything else you’d like me to write about, just comment below. Big hugs x

These delicious nature’s gifts are only available for a short time in the late fall/winter. If you never developed a taste for persimmons ( I only did as an adult), I want you give them another try. The kind that’s most common is the astringent kind, meaning they only taste sweet when completely ripe and soft. Well, those are hard to come by. To take that astringency out of unripe persimmons, wash one, put it in the freezer for a short time until it feels hard but not frozen through. Take it out, leave it to thaw, cut it into wedges, and admire how beautiful it is before you bite into it! it will taste sweet, soft, and delicious! One of the persimmons in the picture has been frozen and you can’t tell. Persimmons are high in fiber, vitamins A (the orange color is a giveaway!) and C. They are also a good source of the mineral manganese important for thyroid gland and has been studied in connection with suppression of viral replication (=antiviral properties). As for pomegranates, they are one of nature’s most nutrient dense foods, high in antioxidants and antiinflammatory compounds, just please be sure to eat the seed itself, some people spit them out after eating the juicy part. - - - #healthyeating #healthyfood #healthysnacks #health #organic #seasonal #seasonaleating #seasonalfruit #thyroidhealing #thyroid #thyroidproblems #thyroidhealth #antiviralfoods #fruit #eatfruitnottoomuch #changeyourdietchangeyourlife #changeyourdiet #trynewfoods #food #foodasmedicine #pomegranateseeds #pomegranate #persimmon #persimmons #howtoeatapersimmon
