After winning his first two games in charge of the National Team, Bima Sakti was believed to be the right man to fill in the vacant managerial position at the team. Bima has previously worked for the National Team as the assistant coach of Luis Milla. Soon after the Spaniard left, Bima was appointed to be the replacement.
However, after months of training, the team was not showing any sign of improvement. With no much difference of the selection of the players, the team was expected to be just fine. Unfortunately, things just got much worse. In the first three games of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018, Bima Sakti’s Indonesia has only managed to win one game and lost the other two. What seems to be the problem?
To a large extent, Bima never asked for this, he never asked to be the head coach of the team, he was CHOSEN. In fact, this is his FIRST time being a head coach of any teams. Does he deserves to be blamed for the team’s horrendous performance? Not fully, but yes, he does. Despite his experience of working alongside Luis Milla, his tactics are completely different than the Spaniard’s. Besides that, Bima’s selection of the team has to be questioned. For example, choosing Bagas Adi instead of Ryuji Utomo, Yanto Basna, or any other players. Another example of that is when Bima decided to replace Andritany with Awan Setho for the game against Thailand. It was a very risky decision for such a vital match. The team under Bima just seems to have zero chance. Lack of creativity and too many defending or attacking errors.
Now the question is, how long will he last?
