Installation day, and the date we've been imagining ever since we started working on the hawker centre project.
Imagining how it feels to complete all of the tiny elements within the diorama, to finally be able to clean our craft tables, to see the finished artwork be sealed within a glass case.
That day in Starbucks laughing and brainstorming over what to include for the proposal seemed so long ago, yet so stark in my memory. That was the first time I talked to @msparkpark
properly then, so we were still being polite and proper. Who knew we would be throwing slippers at each other in the near future. 🤣 It was the beginning of many meetings to come, and @handxmade
put in so much effort to illustrate the proposal which has now come alive.
The miniature hawker centre might just be another exhibition piece to you, just an artwork. But to us, every detail reminds us of a treasured memory. ❤️ The cutlery trays remind me of how much stress Xinman was having trying to get them right, the chicken rice chilli reminds me of the many chicken rice packets I wolfed down, the little boy figurine reminds me of how we discussed if he should chomp down on the kueh or have it layer by layer.
The past few days have been a mad flurry of media features 📰 and congratulatory messages. Thank you ❤️. As I was whisked away on a cruise ship right after the installation of the artwork, the horrid reception at sea currently means that I will be missing a lot of your messages and emails. Please pardon if my replies are tardy, or if I miss out entirely. (P.S this traditional calendar is created by Xinman of @handxmade
!) ------------------ If you've read till here, here's a little piece of good news for last minute santas! Pocket Kitchen Ultimate would be going on sale from this Friday till Sunday. There would be a limited number on sale, and only for collections in Singapore.
