Social media making us less social
Slightly ironic considering I'm using social to share. Definitely worth a glance. Quote and link below. "Lacking social connections may be as damaging to a person’s health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day." The number of platforms you use is a significant predictor of depression and anxiety, Primack said. If two people both use social media for two hours a day, but one divides that time among just two different sites, while the other posts on eight platforms, the second person is three times as likely to be depressed and anxious, his research found.
How much life (not just time) do you spend just scrolling and swiping?
I strongly encourage you to spend your life with friends and family creating wonderful memories rather than just staring at your digital device.
“Likes” by themselves - without actual interaction - are just that a “like”. Not a whole lot of emotion attached. Rather than just a like - let someone know why you are “liking” their post. Tell them how it makes you feel.
Don’t wait until someone is gone to tell them what they really mean to you. Celebrate with them regularly.
Live life to the full. Live life all out. Live outside of your device. Give someone else a smile. Show them that they are important, that they matter. Call them - don’t just send a text.
