So, Thor: Ragnarok is a 2017 Action, Sci-fi, Comedy film, directed by: Taika Waititi, and is the 17th film in the MCU. Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeff Goldblum, and Anthony Hopkins.
Ragnarok approaches and Thor (Hemsworth) will do whatever it takes to prevent the destruction of his home of Asgard. But when the Goddess of Death, Hela (Blanchett), comes in and disturds the realm, over powers the God of Thunder and sends him to world of Skaar. Thor reunites with fellow Avenger, Hulk (Ruffalo), meets the Asgardian Warrior, Valkeryie (Thompson), and works with brother, Loki (Hiddleston) to return home and stop the Goddess.
A film that was a huge and pleasant surprise.
The film is just fun from start to finish. The comedy is extremely well done, with both character and situation. Waititi as both director and actor, in the role of Korg, obviously had so much fun. Thor's change in direction was great for the character and franchise, since this is my personal least favourite franchise. Action sequences were very well done and entertaining. Hela was a good villain as well, so it was great to have a good mixture of villains in recent MCU films.
I think that the comedy could kill some of the dramatic scenes and weren't always completely necessary. And although the change in genre was a welcome change, it was very noticeable.
In the end, this is the MCU film I had the most fun in and was great for the character of Thor. I'll give Thor: Ragnarok a B+
