Appalachian Trail thru-hiker Wilson “Rebel Yell” Stanton. “Hiking the Appalachian Trail has been a dream for probably eight or nine years. I heard about it in college in South Carolina and looked it up one day when I was in the computer lab. Each spring I would think about the trail and follow bloggers who were hiking. I started taking small day hikes in South Carolina. Being up on top of a mountain, man, that is addicting. I was ready to go in the spring of 2012. I had all my gear, I hadn’t registered for classes. I did everything except show up and start hiking because I tripped and fell in love with a girl real hard. That relationship blew up a couple of years ago and I found myself back home with a dead end job in a dead end town. I looked around one day at my job, I was working with a bunch of middle aged men who had done the same thing at this factory for 30 years and they talked about the same thing every day for the last 30 years. It was like the movie Groundhog Day. It was miserable. I still followed bloggers every year so I decided it was time to stop thinking about it and start doing it. I took a leap of faith and its been the greatest decision I’ve ever made in my entire life. I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be. There are no bad days out here, only bad moments. Even when I finish on Katahdin I want to keep hiking, The walk’s not over.”

لقيت ذيب القيوط (كايوتي) يتمشى عند خيمتي. تركته في حاله وتركني في حالي. انا اعتبر نفسي ضيف عند هذا الحيوان واحترامه واجب بما اني في ارضه وبيته.
Look who wandered into our camp site! What a magical creature!
August 16th 2016 where most PCT hikers where reaching mid Oregon or south Washington some might even be finishing there trek. Me, I was only hitting 1000miles. At this point I was 4 months into my PCT thru hike. So much had happened, both butterfly and I had injuries. I lost one tramily but gained another, butterfly and I went thru the desert woods and mountains together, but sadly she left the trail early at 800 miles due to a injury. I laughed, screamed, i talk to myself, I felt like quitting more then once but trekked on and I'm glad I did. I witnessed the most amazing sights, was able summit one of the highest peaks. And met some amazing people. The 16th of August four months after I started my PCT journey, neon and I woke at our camp at Dorothy lake where a pack team deer and planes kept me up all night. We are our usual coffee oatmeal mixture and had planned on a 20mile day, but instead we dosed some lsd to celebrate our 1000 mile accomplishment. We made it maybe 8 miles, found a Water fall and bathed. We found a nice tent site and set up. And stared at the stars and talked about life on and off trail.

Every ride is an opportunity to get fitter and stronger on the bike. Here’s 4 ways to really squeeze the most from each ride -
1. Give yourself a clear goal to focus on for your ride. It might be to clean that climb for the first time. Or set X time on that Strava segment. Set a goal that you want to hit on your ride -
2. Get in the right frame of mind pre-ride. Spending 10 minutes watching a mountain bike video with a coffee, before you head out, can really help put you in the zone for your ride
3. Eat and hydrate. Make sure you eat every 30-60 minutes on your ride to keep fuelled up. You’ll have much more energy, focus and motivation if you are fuelled up and hydrated -
4. Ride with someone faster. If you head out with a faster rider, it will automatically make you work at a higher level. You’ll push to keep up and learn from their body position and line choice. Make the most from every ride 👌 #mtbfitness #mtb
