Some shots from Vintgar Gorge yesterday, I cycled up to it which was no easy task in my books, that being said it was worth it for the free wheel back down to bled. There’s a humble backyard pit stop a couple of hundred meters from the entrance to the national park, It’s at the base of a hill right before you get the the most torturous looking hill you will ever even think about cycling up. For €1 the woman in the garden will give you unlimited water and fill any bottles you have, give you a small handmade souvenir and mind you bike into you’re back from the gorge. She was very friendly and told me about the gorge before I got there and made a lot of conversation so that was really nice, especially given that I was dying for some cold water by the time I got there.
The gorge itself is 1.6Km to reach the end then 1.6km back to the exit so it’s a lot of walking but the water is only 5 degrees Celsius up there so the surrounding area is cooler than say the lakeside in Bled.
It was so refreshing and quite an adventure, I saw some cool wildlife on the way up, mostly birds which I really like so it was a lot of fun to see them including some large birds of prey which I think were common buzzards but I’m not sure.
If you like nature and want and escape from the bustling of cities I think that Bled has a lot to offer and Vintgar Gorge is a great example of things you can do there to unwind
