It was here, at the edge of the world, that John Cabot landed in 1497 and “discovered” the island of Newfoundland. The way these sailors were able to travel across this brutal sea and set off into the unknown is unfathomable and amazing. However, we can’t forget that these places weren’t “discovered”. They’d already been discovered by the people native to the land, most of whom were wiped out eventually. This beautiful, rugged, harsh landscape didn’t belong to the white man first, and we can’t forget that. • • • • • • • • • #shetravels #womenwhotravel #girlswhotravel #explorecanada #travelherscollective #sheisnotlost #beautifuldestinations #travellerscollective #traveldreamseekers #thetravelleague #travelinladies #babeswhowander #worldnomads #ladiesgoneglobal #passportcollective #wetravelgirls #thetravellerwomen #femmetravel #girlaroundtheworld #copinesdevoyage #thetravelgrammersguide #inspirehertravels #girlscatchflightsnotfeelings #history #johncabot #newfoundland #newfoundlandandlabrador #ocean #canada
Still can’t believe the sunrise we got to see yesterday at Cape Spear (the most easterly point in Canada! So basically we saw the sun rise before anyone in North America... no big deal).✨Newfoundland is still so untouched, and deserves to be seen. Would highly recommend coming here and visiting what feels like the edge of the earth to witness God’s insane creation. 💛 Sea, forests, mountains, history, and some of the nicest, most hospitable people in the world. (Why aren’t you here already?) 📷: @airelynn_ • • • Follow along with me these next two weeks to truly witness the beauty of this place! • • • • • • • #theconstantlycurious #shetravels #womenwhotravel #girlswhotravel #travelherscollective #sheisnotlost #beautifuldestinations #travellerscollective #traveldreamseekers #thetravelleague #travelinladies #babeswhowander #ladiesgoneglobal #passportcollective #wetravelgirls #thetravellerwomen #femmetravel #girlaroundtheworld #copinesdevoyage #thetravelgrammersguide #inspirehertravels #girlscatchflightsnotfeelings #newfoundland #newfoundlandandlabrador #explorecanada #canada #eastcoast #sunrise #ocean
One more from my shoot with @karenk.photos to pretend there’s not a major ice storm outside✨
With time I've come to realize how truly special this picture is to me. ❤ Because this was my first international trip and the first World Wonder I checked off my list. But above those two reasons, I was able to do it with a beloved and missed friend. Because there are days your absence and my sense of guilt are more present than the day before. 🙇🏻‍♀️
Can someone take me shark cage diving again? In need of that little adrenaline kick 🦈🌊 Plus I would really love to get good footage and pictures this time around...and I now know to take motion sickness pills BEFORE getting on the boat lol 😷
Good morning everyone 🌞, from me and my friend llama. Peruvian llamas are friendly and pose for selfies with you. 🐪💛🇵🇪
10/10 Top Ten Travel Photos I’ve Taken: Barcelona, Spain ☀️ | My friends and I found a random church in the sidestreets of Barcelona and climbed to the top of its steeple. We were rewarded with this stunning view of the city, and we had the platform all to ourselves. It was a beautiful day, and this photo is one of my all time faves, showing the new and old of Barcelona ✨ • • • • • • • • #theconstantlycurious #shetravels #girlswhotravel #explore #wanderlust #sheisnotlost #travelholic #beautifuldestinations #travellerscollective #traveldreamseekers #thetravelleague #travelinladies #babeswhowander #worldnomads #ladiesgoneglobal #passportcollective #wetravelgirls #thetravellerwomen #femmetravel #girlaroundtheworld #copinesdevoyage #thetravelgrammersguide #inspirehertravels #girlscatchflightsnotfeelings #espana #barcelona #spain #visitbarcelona

9/10 Top Ten Travel Photos I’ve Taken (in no particular order): Somewhere in Eastern Poland... | I can’t for the life of me remember the name of this adorable little town, but I remember walking through it and I remember how I felt while doing so. This is one of my favourite photos of that day, although I had many!! 8/10 Top Ten Travel Photos I’ve Taken (in no particular order): Sunrise at Ibiza Airport 🛩 | I remember being so exhausted in this moment, sitting in the airport and waiting for our flight. Then the sunrise came, and it looked like this. 6/10 Top Ten Travel Photos I’ve Taken (in no particular order): The coast of Newfoundland | The island of Newfoundland in Eastern 🇨🇦 is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It’s full of culture, heritage, and some of the most jaw-dropping scenery. This picture perfectly captures the rugged coast as well as the fishing history that surrounds the island. 🐟 • • • • • • • • #theconstantlycurious #shetravels #womenwhotravel #girlswhotravel #sheisnotlost #travelholic #beautifuldestinations #travellerscollective #traveldreamseekers #thetravelleague #travelinladies #babeswhowander #worldnomads #ladiesgoneglobal #passportcollective #wetravelgirls #thetravellerwomen #femmetravel #girlaroundtheworld #copinesdevoyage #thetravelgrammersguide #inspirehertravels #girlscatchflightsnotfeelings #tourismNL #newfoundland #visitnewfoundland #explorenewfoundland #explorecanada
5/10 of my Top Ten Travel Photos I’ve taken (in no particular order): Berlin, Germany 🍂 | Berlin in the fall is absolutely stunning. Coming from a Canadian - arguably the most beautiful fall country in the world - that’s saying a lot 😉 This picture reminds me of walks through history, and perfectly captures a city that I adore. ✨ • • • • • • • #theconstantlycurious #shetravels #womenwhotravel #girlswhotravel #explore #wanderlust #sheisnotlost #travelholic #beautifuldestinations #travellerscollective #traveldreamseekers #thetravelleague #travelinladies #babeswhowander #worldnomads #ladiesgoneglobal #passportcollective #femmetravel #girlaroundtheworld #copinesdevoyage #thetravelgrammersguide #inspirehertravels #girlscatchflightsnotfeelings #exploreberlin #berlin #germany #visitgermany
4/10 of my Top Ten Travel Photos I’ve taken (in no particular order): Doolin, Ireland 🍀 | Honestly, I feel like I can’t take credit for this because all I did was walk and take the photo. The town itself is what made the photo beautiful, and all I had to do was capture it ✨ I feel like it perfectly captures the beautiful mystery of Ireland. 💖 • • • • • • • #theconstantlycurious #shetravels #womenwhotravel #girlswhotravel #explore #wanderlust #sheisnotlost #travelholic #beautifuldestinations #travellerscollective #traveldreamseekers #thetravelleague #travelinladies #babeswhowander #worldnomads #ladiesgoneglobal #passportcollective #femmetravel #girlaroundtheworld #copinesdevoyage #thetravelgrammersguide #inspirehertravels #girlscatchflightsnotfeelings #exploreireland #ireland #eire #doolin #visitireland

3/10 Top Travel Photos I’ve taken (in no particular order): Jasper, Canada ✨ | (Yes, another mountain photo. Alberta deserves this.) We stopped at this glacier lake on our way from Banff to Jasper, and I can’t for the life of me remember its name, but I’ll remember it forever. One of the most serene, beautiful scenes I’ve ever seen (aside from the swath of tourists on a tourist bus who’d gotten there just before us). The water was blue, the reflection was clear, and my heart was full. ☺️💙 • • • • • • • • #theconstantlycurious #shetravels #womenwhotravel #sheisnotlost #travelholic #beautifuldestinations #travellerscollective #traveldreamseekers #thetravelleague #babeswhowander #ladiesgoneglobal #passportcollective #wetravelgirls #thetravellerwomen #femmetravel #girlaroundtheworld #copinesdevoyage #thetravelgrammersguide #jasper #alberta #explorecanada #canadianrockies #visitjasper #lake

Annnnnd, drumroll please... my TOP TRAVEL EXPERIENCE EVER (so far): jumping into Moraine Lake in Banff, Alberta ☀️ | As I mentioned in an earlier post, this past summer, I finally got to go to Western Canada, and I’m obsessed. The Rocky Mountains in #Alberta are absolutely incredible - I can’t even begin to explain how beautiful this place is. While we were there, we drove up to Moraine Lake. After scaling some rocks and then sliding down the side of a hill, we ended up right beside the lake. After some deliberation, I decided to jump into the unbelievably blue water. It was ABSOLUTELY FREEZING, but it was so worth it for the experience - and for this shot 😍 But it wasn’t just the fact that I jumped into the water and faced my fear of lakes - I stripped down to just my bra and underwear, and faced my fear of people watching me and judging me. I’m really never comfortable with my body unless it’s fully covered - on this trip I felt amazing, and this moment only goes to show that. Shoutout to Catherine for this amazing shot ✨🙌🏼
TOP TEN TRAVEL EXPERIENCE #2 : driving vespas in Ibiza, Spain 🛵 | Honestly I don’t know what we’d call these machines. They weren’t vespas, but they weren’t motorcycles either! They went fast, though 😎 During my semester abroad in Poland, a few friends and I flew over to Spain for our reading week. We spent some time in Barcelona, and then we headed to the beautiful island of Ibiza. It was November, so the island really wasn’t hopping, but that just meant we got the beaches to ourselves 😏 We took the ferry over to Formentera island, where we rented these bad boys. We spent the rest of the day zooming around the island, where we found our own private beach. The whole day was entirely unexpected, but it remains one of my all time favourite things I’ve ever done. ✨🏍
When I go over my wedding pictures, one of the many things that come to mind is..... I can't believe I got to be married on Jurassic lands. 🤣 Anyone else excited for June? Lol HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to us. 💙 🐊 Pc: @paradastudio #JurassicFan
TOP TRAVEL EXPERIENCE #3 : Studying in Krakow, Poland 🇵🇱| In 2015, I moved abroad with 22 strangers to live in Poland for four months. Even as a history major, I knew hardly anything about the culture, the people, the art. After living there, I know so much - and I love every part of it. And those strangers became some of my best friends. 😊 Historically, Poland has not had it easy. The people may be, upon first glance in the street, reserved and stoic, but they are full of love and stories. Some of the most beautiful architecture I’ve ever seen was in Poland (and I lived in Italy!). The country is colourful, it has amazing food, and vodka is cheaper than water. Plus, there are literally hundreds of years of history just in Krakow itself (the city was officially founded in 1257). I miss it every single day, and I highly encourage people to add Poland to their travel list. (Shoutout to @evazubeck , who is doing a beautiful tour of Poland this month!) Polska, kocham cię. ❤️
TOP TRAVEL EXPERIENCE #4 : 70th Anniversary of D-Day 🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸 | In June 2014, I travelled back across the sea to Normandy for the 70th anniversary of the DDay Landings. As you can see, the houses, towns and squares were decked out with Canadian, American, and British flags to commemorate the soldiers who landed on Juno, Sword, Gold, Omaha, and Utah Beaches, and the paratroopers who landed before the ships. Normandy was packed and I saw so many amazing things - re-enactors, WWII-era machines brought in from all over the world, ceremonies, memorial services, museum exhibits, plane and paratroop demonstrations... As a history major (and as someone who’s entire university career shifted because of this place and it’s history), this was astonishing and overwhelming in the most amazing way possible. Highlight of this trip was meeting multiple veterans and getting to thank them, as well as meeting French locals whose stories were so real, and whose homes I would selflessly be let into when I came back again in 2015. ❤️🇫🇷
Taking a break from my Top Ten Favourite Travel Experiences to share one of my all time favourite pictures of me in one of my all time favourite places. This was on the 3/4 times I’ve been back. Normandy, you will always have my ❤️✨ #doublepostkindaday
TOP TRAVEL EXPERIENCE #5 : biking from Albert to the Beaumont-Hamel memorial | In July 2013, I got to visit the haunting site of Beaumont-Hamel, where during the First World War, almost an entire battalion of the Newfoundland Regiment was wiped out. As a Canadian, Vimy Ridge was haunting and moving and beautiful, but as a Newfoundlander and ad a historian, Beaumont-Hamel was even more so. The site is so incredibly preserved. What made this experience so incredible was that I biked from the town of Albert to the site (about an hour). It was a beautiful day, and since I wasn’t overly fit, it was hard - but looking back, it turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done. 🚲☀️🌿
NOVEMBER 2017 ECUADOR 🇪🇨 We've made it to your last South American stop and got up close and personal... with the Toucan 🐦 💛 Ecuador and Uruguay gave us a little bit of that home away from home feeling. Uruguay probably because it was the cleanest and nicest. And Ecuador because there was no foreign currency. So that was easy 🤣 All in all, I need to return to visit the Galapagos and the rest of Ecuador.
TOP TRAVEL EXPERIENCE #6 : Horsebackriding in Jasper, Alberta 🇨🇦🐴 | I finally got to experience Alberta this past summer after 24 years living in this country. I’m obsessed. One of the most amazing experiences I had while there (and I had many) was going horsebackriding with one of my best friends through the mountains in Jasper National Park. I truly believe that being on horseback is one of the most authentic, beautiful ways to explore somewhere, and this was no exception. What a ride!
TOP TRAVEL EXPERIENCE #7 : biking in Amsterdam | As part of my solo excursion in the summer of 2013, I took a trip to Denmark and then a bus down to Amsterdam. The hotel I was staying at had included a bike in my price, and to me, that was strange - what do you mean, you guys bike everywhere?? When in Rome, I guess! 🚴‍♀️ So I hopped on my bike and for the next three days I explored the beautiful city on my own - just me and my bike. I became obsessed with that bright red machine. After a few mishaps of almost hitting some pedestrians and being yelled at, I got the hang of it quick, and soon I was flying along like a local. Biking along the canals and streets and riding through history on a breeze is definitely something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Pro tip: always do it like a local! 🚲✨
TOP TRAVEL EXPERIENCE #8 : traveling to Italy with my brother ••••• In 2013, I left Canada for the first time to head to a 3 month stint in Italy. I went a week early, and my little brother ended up joining me on a whim. We hit up Rome, Florence, Venice, and Verona. It was both of our first times traveling anywhere, and we had to sort out what felt like a million little bumps including problems with hotels, public transportation without knowing a wink of Italian, church dress codes, and eating on a very, very low budget. Despite all this - perhaps BECAUSE of all this - it’s now remembered fondly as one of the best travel moments of my life, because it ultimately brought us closer together. ☀️💁🏼‍♀️💁🏼‍♂️
OCTOBER 2017 BRASIL 🇧🇷 So as you can see, we moved around a bit in October 😁 There are so many places to visit in each country. Some people decide to skip the typical Tourist areas and go more off grid, but this was our first time in South America, which can be a little intimidating at first because there are so many stereotypes. Its alot different than traveling in Europe or North America. Gladly we enjoyed the entire trip and didn't run into any trouble. Rio is a city within the mountains and Ipanema has the best sunset spot. The vibe in Rio is honestly the best, especially if you love ⚽️ It's such a free place 👙 lol BRASIL is definitely the most diverse country I've known yet. There are ALL types of people. There's really nothing that you can point out in specific. TIP: If you wanna visit Brazil, learn some Portuguese. It's hard to find people who speak either English or Spanish 😩 #Ipanema #Copacabana #PaoDeAzucar #CristoCorcovado #RioDeJaneiro #Brasil #SouthAmerica #Futevolei #Futbol #MemoOchoa #WorldCup2014 #EscadariaSelaron #OnTheRoadWithTC #TravellersCollective #TC #TravelBug #Adventure #Sunsets
OCTOBER 2017 COSTA RICA 🇨🇷 Shared this week in Costa Rica with my parents and cousins. Adventured out into the Costa Rican everglades......which was probably the highlight of the trip because it was CRAZY lol. There's a story behind it. 🤣🐊 We hiked up to see the famous Volcan Arenal...then hiked some MORE into the rainforest to find waterfalls, natural Hot springs, and monkeys 💙🐒🦎🐍 Costa Rica is a very biodiverse country. The country is literally all rainforest and national parks ♻️🌴 ⛰It's a very green, vegetarian, eco-friendly country lol #PuraVida #CostaRica #30thAnniversary #ParentsAnniversary #VolcanArenal #SanJose #LaFortuna #TamarindoBeach #FlamingoBeach #Manglares #Crocodiles #Monkeys #Hotsprings #AguasCalientes #Volcanoes #HikesForDays #TravelBug #TravellersCollective #JW
