Hit up an ama ing Brookie stream this morning. The stream was low and crystal clear. The stream flat out does not allow for conventional fly casting so I opted to take my @tenkarausa
Rhodo. Fish were in every place a fish could be. I lost probably 30 fish as landing them on this stream with barbless hooks is near impossible. As I would make my way up stream you could just see brookies scurrying under riots and other hiding places. I saw quite a few 9” brookies and missed around 4-5 of those guys. This stream is by far the most difficult stream I have ever fished. The fish aren’t picky at all, but getting the flies to them, and landing them is very difficult. I live for this kind of fishing though. Catching bigger fish is fun but far easier in my opinion. I would land a fish and see brookies 2 holes up spooking.
The water was ice cold and I somehow managed to fish the whole time without a mosquito bite. I love all sorts of angling techniques. Fly fishing, fishing with spinners, and Tenkara are all fun ways to pursue fish. This mornings stream is very beautiful and pretty dark. Mountain laurel lines the streams banks. I believe I had an encounter with a bear. Beautiful morning but I’ll be waiting for more water to fish it again.
