Oh man!! I got after it tonight!! We have been CRAZY busy and truthfully... I’ve missed a few workouts... 😬 I know.. hard to believe right!? All I can say is this... control what you can control. Things like work, family, marriage and home responsibilities all have to be managed. Between all of them, it can get pretty crazy sometimes. Sometimes you control that list, and sometimes it seems like that list controls you!
Here are some things that have helped my stay grounded over the last year and a half.
1. Have a plan - We have all heard the saying, “if you fail to plan, plan to fail”. Well it’s 100% true and when it comes to your health and fitness, it’s no exception. If you’re going to be busy make adjustments, modified your schedule, make time for the things that are important to you. Do anything except nothing!
2. Have support - Accountability is a GAME CHANGER! Don’t tackle this stuff alone. Unless you are ultra disciplined (not me) or a professional athlete, it’s easy to lose focus and get off track. Partner with like minded people who can help you stick to and reach your goals. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. The hardest part is starting!
3. Believe that you can - In my opinion, this is sometimes the hardest one. You can have all the gear, support, plans and programs and still lack the key ingredient to your success. Belief in yourself! You have realized that YOU are worth it. Your health is worth it. Being there for your family is worth it. And to go one step deeper, you have to believe that you are capable of changing. If you are stuck in a rut, the person that you want to become can seem so far away. Almost impossible to reach, right? I know I have felt that way! It sucks! But you CANNOT stay in that suck. Listen to what I’m saying... You are capable of greatness and the only one standing in your way is you! If you are tired of being stuck, then do something about it... and believe that you can!
