Yes, be you.
I know this is 2 words that is so much easier to say than do, or to even accept.
I have always been a people pleaser, almost forcing myself to be someone I’m not to “fit in” or make others happy. Constantly pressuring myself to be someone I’m not, which led to tons of stress and not believing in the person I truly am.
We need to believe that the first person that we need to please and make sure is healthy is ourself. It’s so important to realize you truly need to take care of yourself. I have always thought I needed to take care of family and others first. I have suppressed so much anxiety, emotions, fear, feelings, and stress that almost 4 months ago my blood pressure was through the roof, and I don’t just mean a tad high- I mean to the point that I (a wife, a mother of 2, a successful 40 year old female), was at high risk of having a heart attack or stroke due to anxiety induced high blood pressure.
I’m not proud of this, and it’s actually hard to admit this and what I had to go through to realize that it’s so important to take care of yourself first. Yes, you come first and deserve to put yourself first.
Gradually though, after seeking counseling and taking the necessary steps to help myself, I’m learning to accept myself. Everything about myself. I’m learning to truly love the person I am, so called flaws and everything. Admitting to myself and telling my story is helping me “be me” and to believe in myself.
It’s so important to be unique, we are all different, have our own qualities, own appearances, our own personalities, traits, stories, life experiences. We need to acknowledge, embrace, and stop thinking of our own unique qualities as negative.
You are enough and learning to love everything about yourself makes you strong, brave, confident, and makes you the best you can be. Accept yourself, everything about yourself even if it takes months or years.
You are worth it. You are you. Just be you.
