Thyroid Weight Loss Tip:⠀ ⠀ Have you ever noticed that being consistent with your diet is very difficult? You're "all in" for a week or so and then somebody invites you to dinner or a coworker brings in donuts and it's all over from there!⠀ ⠀ With weight loss, consistency is key. In a standard week, you need to be down 3500 kcal to lose 1 pound excess fat. That's, on average, 500 kcal a day! Falling off the bandwagon even as little as twice a week can prevent you from losing ANY weight -- despite being perfect with your diet the rest of the week.⠀ ⠀ Our advice?⠀ ⠀ Give yourself a cheat meal once a week. Save it for a dinner out with your friends or a holiday event. Mark it on your calendar so that you know what day and what meal you are allowed to "cheat" at. By doing this, you consciously plan ahead for meals that you may not be 100% adherent to your diet. The rest of the week you should summon your willpower and stick with it! On cheat meal days, consider walking an extra 1,000 steps or adding 30 more minutes to your workout.⠀ ⠀ Following a diet consistently is important. But the JOY of eating something on the "naughty list" is equally as important! Be happy and allow yourself to cheat once in awhile! It takes a lot of trial & error - some blood, sweat, & tears - many conversations with mentors & experts - & a lot of being honest with yourself. . . Committing to a healthy lifestyle is hard, there’s no reason to sugar coat it. To truly live a healthy life you have to work for it, day in & day out. You have to talk yourself into doing things that feel right and out of the things that seem like the easy way out. . . At first you may have no clue what you’re doing, but something deep inside you is telling you you can do better so you try. You try and try and try until one day it just clicks. . . There have been many times in my journey where I questioned if it was all worth. Times where I thought giving up would be easier, but thankfully I never listened to those voices in my head. Instead I got real with myself and continued to challenge myself by asking: “What does Toni want and need to live a healthy and fulfilling life?” . . The answer has always been and will forever be: self care. . . We were not put on this earth to spread ourselves so thin and give to others without giving to ourselves first. Healthy eating and regular exercise is one way you can tell yourself you matter. . . If we all started treating ourselves like we love ourselves this world would be a much happier place. . . Sometimes you have to fake it to make it but I promise one day it will just click and when that happens you will feel FREE 🙌🏼❣️

In the process of shifting house... haven't been able to work out too much in the past few days...walked 6 kms yesterday and did a 20 min warm up workout. Additionally, cleared half of the wardrobe, emptied bed storage, swept floor twice, and worked full day, if that counts..phewww! Winter does funny things to your stomach..it growls... steaming hot food spreads it's aroma and without thinking, a bite of paratha followed by more bites satisfy your hunger pangs at night. 🌟Don’t copy what I eat. - 🌟I’ll be honest and save you time, it’s unnecessarily. And chances of misery is a little high. - 🌟I didn’t get here by choice. The food that I post, these super bland chicken breasts and boiled vegetables are my actual lunches and dinners. I’m not trying to showcase “this is how to eat to lose weight,” no no, the message I”d like to get across is quite the opposite of that. - 🌟I fell into this menu by a string of misconceptions. Y’see, in the beginning of my weight loss journey I thought healthy equaled to weight loss. I thought weight loss meant no salt, no sugar, no oil. I couldn’t have been more wrong. - 🌟That went on for over a year. It got to a point where I could appreciate the natural flavors of food. To me, boiled vegetables are full of taste. Each has their own unique flavors that are already quite tasty. - 🌟I’ve found my tolerance for salty foods have dropped. Almost everything I eat that’s not home-cooked I’d feel is a tad on the ‘too salty’ side. - 🌟And so these plates, the food that I’m posting everyday, it’s my genuine comfort food. I truly enjoy it. I enjoy the simplicity of it. I enjoy how little fuss it takes to prepare them. - 🌟But theyare not ‘diet’ food. Copying it mindlessly doesn’t not automatically mean weight loss. It might instead ignite a binge because of the misery the lack of taste brings. - 🌟What do I suggest instead? - 🌟I suggest you build your own menu. Take time to be mindful of calories, and nutrients, and understand what your needs and goals are. It’s not something you figure out overnight, it’s something to consistently build upon. - 🌟There’s a reason behind all the choices on my plate. Why chicken breast and not fish? Why broccoli and not kale? Why bell peppers? Why pepper? The answer answer really comes down to personal preference. - 🌟The best menu is one that follows a rough 80/20 guide. 80% nutrient rich whole foods, 20% of your favorite foods. The best menu is one you can stick to sustainabily for long term periods of time. - 🌟All of our menus will look different, and that’s completely normal. - 🌟What’s a must have ingredient in your everyday menu?

After learning how to make this deliciousness on Saturday, I've been obsessed with it and my body was begging for it! So I made a quick stop at the store on my way home and made it for dinner. Super fast, super easy, super good! Of course, as usual, I made some changes to the recipe to match our needs, but I kept it as similar as I could because Marisa's @rawmallama was just perfect. But dinner was still amazing! Here's my take on the "No Tuna Salad Wraps" 1 can chickpeas 3 TBS almond butter 1 tsp Dijon mustard 1/2 cup diced red onion 1/2 cup diced cucumber 1/4 cup diced pickles (non sugar) 2 tsp capers 1/4 cup pickle juice Juice of 1 lemon White pepper to taste Lettuce for wraps Directions: rinse and drain chickpeas. Mash them with almond butter, Dijon mustard and pickle juice. Add diced vegetables. Sprinkle white pepper and pour the lemon juice. Mix everything together until well combined. I dunno about anyone else, but I’ve been beating myself UP lately,, over everything. How I look, my moods, how lazy I feel; and it’s killer. Your brain really is a powerful tool, and boy can it make or break your situation. No matter how small or trivial of a situation it may seem, your thoughts can twist it around wrapping itself until it seems like a huge looming issue. And that’s where I am now; I look at myself in the mirror and I feel pretty but at the same time I’m disappointed in what I see. My brain keeps telling me that results need to happen faster! When I first made the decision to become a dietitian I wanted to help people with eating disorders and that’s what I did. . . After that I got a job working for a day care center, followed by a big hospital, to a nursing home, then a retail dietitian, and now an entrepreneur doing one-on-one counseling. . . Before I even passed the RD exam I had experience working as a nutrition educator in the community and as a diet clerk in an acute care setting. . . It’s been a decade of absorbing as much nutrition information as possible and applying it with different people in various settings. I’ve learned A LOT and continue to grow as a nutrition expert. . . Recently I keep getting asked what type of coaching I do. I used to feel like I had to give a specific response but now I know that I don’t. . . I am not a macro coach or an intuitive eating dietitian. However if you feel like you need to title me then I guess you could say my specialty is listening... you can call me the listening dietitian. 👂😅💛 . . I listen to my clients wants and needs. I help them discover a long term sustainable plan that is designed for them and only them. I treat them for the individualizes that they are. . . I have some of my clients count macros, some working on behavior change and mindset, and others work on creating a diet with more variety so they’re not tied down to a ridged plan that causes an unhealthy relationship with food. . .
