With the flu season hitting us, it is important to do everything possible to boost our immunity! We love these immune boosting foods and try to find creative ways to add them into our kid’s foods too. -Citrus foods are high in Vitamin C , which is key to fighting infections. Citrus foods are always a big hit in our house, especially oranges and clementines. We personally use a lot of lemons in our household and now the kids love lemon water too!
-Vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, and red pepper are packed with vitamins and minerals. Red peppers contain twice as much Vitamin C than citrus fruits and a great source of beta carotene, which aids in skin and eye health. But keep in mind that these veggies lose some of its nutrients if they are cooked down so best to eat them raw if possible.
-Ginger and garlic are big immune boosters. Garlic has many other health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and improving cholesterol levels. Ginger helps decrease inflammation and pain.
-Tumeric. The benefits of this spice are like no other. It’s anti-inflammatory properties are so strong and studies have shown that is extremely helpful in the treatment of pain caused by arthritis.
-Green tea possesses an antioxidant, epigallocatechin gallate, which enhances the immune system. -Shellfish as they are packed with zinc, which is vital for our immune cells to function properly.
There are many other prevent the flu or any other sicknesses. Eating right and keeping your body healthy with the right nutrients will help aid in getting sick. Stay active during these winter months to keep the circulation of white bloods cells (these are the cells that fight infection) going. Practice good hygiene and get the flu vaccine!

Guess what....I have what you NEED!! 💁🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙌🏼Don’t wait any longer....
Errrybody is talking about it – and for good reason! So if .
Tumeric is from the ginger family and contains a significant amount of polyphenols called curcumin 💛💛. Strong literature shows curcumin to benefit inflammatory conditions, metabolic syndrome, pain, degenerative eye conditions, kidney processing, arthritis, anxiety, hyperlipidemia and recovery from vigorous exercise - so this explains the hype! 🌟⚡️
If you do use turmeric, there are a few things you should keep in mind:
👉Be sure to read the label on all supplement packages and follow the instructions carefully. If you’re unsure of the dosage, speak with your doctor. :
👉As with other supplements, it’s often wise to start with a low dosage and gauge how you’re doing. You can build up from there. 👉Turmeric may increase urinary oxalate levels or worsen anemia. Use it with caution if you have a history of kidney stones or anemia. 👉Be aware that although most people can tolerate turmeric, some might find that it doesn’t agree with their stomach. Others could have allergies. Start with a smaller dosage. 👉Avoid buying in bulk. Like other spices, it has its best properties when it is fresh. Whether you take the supplement or decide to add turmeric to your food, buy only what you need for the immediate future. 👉Pairing fats, oil or black pepper with turmeric can improve the absorption of curcumin and bring more benefits. 👉Include plenty of other healthy spices besides turmeric in your diet such as cinnamon, ginger and cumin. 👉Use tumeric as a supplement alongside eating a healthful diet, exercising regularly and managing your stress levels.

Tumeric or “Curcuma longa”
Used in Ancient India, said to contain the Spirit of the “Divine Mother”.
Ganesha, the Elephant-headed god, revered as the “Remover of Obstacles” in the Hindu Pantheon - one vestige remaining from the influence of ancient Indo-European religion, is often carved into Tumeric root.
In Ayuveda Turmeric is used to balance “vata”, “pitta”, and “kapha”, or your personality and health “constitutions”. If you take too much it can cause issues with “pitta “and “vata”. It is considered to have benefits for the blood and plasma of the circulatory system. It also is said to fire up the digestion while helping reduce excessive toxin load. Its bitter and pungent taste are a great additional to curries, salad vinaigrettes or simply sprinkled on almost anything at all. In Ayuveda It’s cleansing benefits even apply to the chakra system for those that appreciate that model.
But what do we know in western science? It has been shown to: · Over 600 studies have found beneficial elements to Tumeric consumption and it’s extract Curcumin
· Curcumin, a Tumeric extract has been shown to shrink or destroy cancer stem cell phenotypes
· Tumeric activates the NRF2 anti-oxidant pathway, a powerful cellular cleansing pathway
· The active constituents in turmeric known as “curcuminoids” have been shown to have effects on the growth of beneficial activity on the human microbiome by over 60% compared to placebo
How to take: Tumeric is fat soluble and luckily for us the active curcuminoids aren’t destroyed by cooking. I would suggest to mix it together with a fat of your choosing and briefly warm it up, add it to salads or other cooking. There isn’t any need for black pepper. The effect Tumeric is through the microbiome! It doesn’t need to be more bio-available! Don’t bother with expensive black pepper ripoffs. A fat, the powder – lightly cooked. That’s all you need. Forget the supplements. You don’t need them! Just get some good organic powder and you’re good as gold. #tumeric #herbs #adaptogens #masculinity #imperiumherbs #naughtyphilosphy #salty #curcumin #health #microbiome #ayurveda
