Prep and Counter Poses for Backbends are just as important as the backbend practice itself (in my opinion, at least)
These are some of my suggestions on what to work on before and after backbends. The pictures show an example of a relevant pose, but you can always experiment with other types of poses that fulfil similar intention.
Before your Backbend, start with these...
1️⃣ Pelvic floor awareness (aka mula bandha) - to practice safe backbends requires awareness of the pelvic floor. So spend some time in the beginning to create that awareness, and maintain that throughout the practice
2️⃣ Spine lengthening - active forward bends are great in creating length in the spine. Spend some time on this to prevent compression when working on backbends.
3️⃣ Spinal Twist - creating mobility in the spine before backbends is like oiling a machine 😉
4️⃣ Side Stretch - keep the chest lifted, and feel the stretch as you breath into the side body
5️⃣ Hip Flexors & Quad - keep these stretches active, so as the front of the body stretch, hug the outer hips in (keeping the hips square) for stability
6️⃣ Chest & Shoulders - both active and passive assisted stretches can help to create space in these areas.
Then after your Backbend, end with these...
1️⃣ Round the spine but with active core engagement - stay for a few breaths
2️⃣ Full Range Spinal Twist - this is where the hips might be slightly lifted to feel the twist equally along the spine
3️⃣ Targeted Spinal Twist - hops are grounded, the twist moves up more towards the middle and upper spine
4️⃣ Active Forward Fold - keep the pelvic floor engaged as you fold forward to lengthen the entire spine
Stay for each for as long as you need to, with a minimum of 5 breaths.

As explained in the video, I broke this move down into 3 parts and I’ll list them below as well since I’m kind of all over the place in this 🙈
Part 1️⃣ is about understanding the timing of the trick ⏲
Part 2️⃣ is for the jump and trap (explained more thoroughly in the video)🤾🏻♀️
Part 3️⃣ is when you stomp your foot down to go into the wedgie💥
I also added a slow motion video at the end showing the full move from the front and the “jump & trap” part from behind! •

Since I am curing my shoulder impingement syndrome I am really limited in what I can practice. My practice is really almost only standing balance poses in the last 2 weeks.
Here is just an idea how to enter the Warrior 3 #virabhadrasana3
and a prep that can make you feel and understand better the alignment of the back leg and the hips. ✅step onto a block, press the foot into the block firmly, keep this knee soft. Pull the swinging leg actively into your body, flex the foot, activate the whole muscle chain from foot to abs. ✅ swing slightly with the free leg keeping your core engaged and your whole body as firm as a wood stick. ✅as if on rails in a synchronic movement raise the free leg and bring your torso forward until parallel to the ground. ✅press the hip bone of the standing leg backwards and activate the back leg. Keep the foot strongly flexed and press against an imaginary resistance under your back shin ✅elongate through the back leg and the arms, keep the side body long, breathe evenly ✅ stay for 5 breaths or longer

is here! today is how to use a surcingle/bitting rig!
step 1: place ties on the very middle rings
step 2: strap on the surcingle UPSIDEDOWN!
step 3: attach the straps through the front legs onto the halter or snaffle (d ring or eggbutt)
step 4: start by hand walking to make sure your horse is okay with the pressure
step 5: once your horse understands the concept, lunge him with it
Here’s a flashback to our last teacher training module! Here, Colin is going over cues and modifications for poses that are foundational to a yoga practice.
In a low lunge, gravity is your best friend. Allow your hips to soften to earth while squeezing your thighs together for balance and stability. Keeping your back toe tucked will keep your hips nice and square here, and engage your core to send your torso upright.
Anjaneyasana or Low Lunge is great on its own, with arm variations, and as a transitional pose in a Vinyasa class!

🎉Happy Tuesday everyone!!🎉
I just got this gorgeous new Rose Gold brush set from @slaybellabrand
this week, and I’m now obsessed😍 Swipe to see a close up of these stunning brushes💖
I decided to give them a try with my daily makeup routine. Note that I don’t do any heavy contouring or even much blemish control - if I wear makeup on a regular day, my focus is way more on eyes and blending. Soon I’ll share a more extravagant makeup look if you like this one! *
What do you think: more content like this (and more creative make up wear?)💖💄💋
Oh heeey! This week we’re talking about spinal extension. I, for one, have had back injury, and I can tell you ✌🏼things that help my back feel oh-so-good. .
1. Strengthening my spinal extensors (shown in this vid)
2. Strengthening my deep core (transverse abdominals, psoas) .
One common mistake in back bending is incorporating glutes in the wrong way. So here, we just take the glutes out and focus on the anterior tilt of the pelvis and extension along the spine. This is not a common way to teach back-bending but I certainly love it. It provides the opportunity to actually feel those long muscles (there’s a few) that run up and down your spine. Remember, if you don’t feel it, it’s not working. So back off your back bends for a moment and see if you can actually feel those muscles drawing you backwards. Then you can gradually progress.

Happy Tutorial Tuesday!
I just wanted to share my two favorite tricep exercises with you all.
So turn up the volume or just read 😃
The triceps, also triceps brachii (Latin for "three-headed muscle of the arm"), is a large muscle on the back of the upper limb of many vertebrates. It is the muscle principally responsible for extension of the elbow joint (straightening of the arm).
Actions: Extends Forearm, Long Head Extends, ... 1.With An EZ-Bar
Don't use a very close grip on a bar; take it with a grip of about shoulder-width. Using the EZ-bar can be more comfortable for your wrists, compared to a barbell, and the wider grip will be easier to balance in your hands and reduce elbow flare. I change the form a slight to really hit the medial head of the tricep right at the top. I call these the “Rogue” Scull crusher
For a little extra oomph in your next triceps workout, try this superset: Start off with skullcrushers, then immediately proceed to close-grip bench presses. You don't even need to change bars or weight! Like I did in the video.
The first movement really targets the triceps; do it to failure. Instead of dropping the weight, go right into the multijoint exercise that allows the pecs to help you complete more reps to failure. Just lower the bar to your chest under control and press strongly back upward to full arm extension.
Swipe Left for this tricep exercise 😊
2.Cable Version With Bar/EZ-Bar
The line of pull comes from the side with this variation, so there's no resting spot at the top. Super set with small pull over to define the tricep
Try these out and let me know how you like it!

TUTORIAL // TUESDAY!! .
It’s here do not fear! I didn’t not forget just a little late posting as I had a busy day doing hair!!! .
The high pony 🐴 every want a great high pony you can rock day or night? Here are some tips and tricks to help keep it lasting! As we all know ponytails drop through the day or as we are dancing the night away and let’s be honest... by the end we do not look like a red carpet wonder ❌
. 🗣PRO TIP 1): start with sections. Section off the sides, top ( from front to crown) and place the rest in a ponytail right at your crown. This may seem high but girl trust me.. it ain’t! . 🗣PRO TIP 2): take your top section and add it to your existing ponytail that you placed at your crown, using a second elastic. This will ensure security to last and give you that extra full va va voom pony you want 👱🏻♀️
. 🗣PRO TIP 3): take one of your side sections and wrap it around your ponytail to hide the elastics and bobby pin underneath. Repeat on both sides 🙌🏼
Curl your pony or don’t!!! Whatever look you want to achieve and voila!! You’ve got a secure, fluffy and full pony tail! Hey girl hey 💁🏻♀️
Hope you found this helpful!!! For more of a glam look I would definitely curl your pony to get that A list look! .

What do you do when you have a husband with an expansive collection that he wants to proudly display, but you have no man cave for him to display it in?
Well friends, that was my exact problem. Luckily my husband’s collection happens to be easier on the eyes than most. He embodies art; he’s a writer, musician, music enthusiast and avid film fan.
With no dedicated office or basement as his own space, we had to make due in the unused formal living room.
To make this room feel as cohesive as possible with the rest of our home, we focused on a anchor piece that mirrored colors from surrounding rooms. This rug was a great choice and had a pattern that livened up the area.
When pulling pieces of art from his collection to display, we focused on those same colors as key pieces.
We framed some of his favorite album covers with bold patterns and coordinating colors to make the bare wall behind the couch pop.
When styling the display shelves, I focused music, books and movies which help to further personalize the decor.
As far as his record collection, record player and amp, we both think they are beautiful pieces of art in and of themselves.
So when you are trying to make a space work in your home follow a few simple rules. 1) Focus on a few key colors that are in surrounding rooms. 2) Find an anchor piece that helps make it feel more cohesive with the rest of the home. 3) Don’t use meaningless knick-knacks; style shelves with books or items that personalize the space and coordinate with your color theme.
Note: A few of the framed music posters do not coordinate at all - this is called compromise and something I’m working on being better at, even after almost 15 years of marriage 🤣

Want to make Uraraka's hero boots but you're a lazy cosplayer? Hate sanding/plasti-dipping/wood-filling/basically any advanced cosplay techniques??? Then you've come to the right tutorial LOL
I made these boots in about a week and wore them to Katsucon on Saturday afternoon. They withstood the test of the con and I am happy with the results! I am also one of those cosplayers who uses nothing but mod podge and hot glue, so if you are interested in a pretty simple(??) Uravity boot tutorial, here you go!
1. This is the flat pattern shape. When glued, the slits in the shin/leg part will make the boot look a little more like a bubble and less like a straight-up cylinder. In the end I added an extra strip at the bottom to cover the bottom of my base shoe
2. Before making my big shoe pattern, I made a mini shoe! This let me see the shape of the shoe and make it how I wanted before doing a big pattern
3. To make the big pattern, I measured the circumference of my leg and compared it to the size of the small shoe pattern. I think I multiplied the size of the small shoe pattern by 3? I don't exactly remember 😅 But measure your leg and multiply the size of the small shoe pattern so that the part that wraps around your leg matches or is similar to the size of your leg!!!!! Note that I did not glue the back of the leg piece all the way up (you can see it more in the next pic)
4. After testing the paper pattern on myself, I cut the pattern out of some thick (1/2in) EVA foam. When I made my first boots (see final pic), they tended to collapse in partially because the foam was too thin. The other reason was because there was no ventilation and they became too hot from my leg heat.. haha. This version has a lot of ventilation--I only glued the back of the shoe halfway up so that there would be good ventilation and so that I could bend my knees (to walk.. sit... you know, important things). Also I used hot glue to glue everything!
5. I never use plasti-dip because of the smell... so I used mod podge to prime, then acrylic paint, then a final layer of mod podge to seal
6. I attached the boot to my base shoe with velcro and an elastic strip
So there you have it! Hope it helps!! 😄
