Here's why we shouldn't hate Marlon as much as you all do. Written by a 15 year old, who understands kids because I see them everyday
You know what Marlon was in the end? A scared KID. A KID who was put into the leadership role after not only all the adults abandoned him- but the only adult who stayed, died. Marlon did NOT know what he was getting into, and it shows with his actions. When you're talking with Marlon about the safezone, that's the first time we see him break. You can clearly tell with his voice that he is STRESSED, Because he didn't know how he was going to provide for everyone else without clem's help. Marlon clearly has anger issues, I mean, I would be angry too if all the adults booked it while they left me to fend for myself. He probably never had a good coping mechanism for his anger, no outlet or anything- so his anger was left to boil up and he could snap at any moment. Is this his fault? No. Because he was a KID when the apocalypse started, just like Clementine. Except you know what's different about them? Marlon lived in walls his whole life, never having the adult figure like Lee to teach him right and wrong or how to handle his anger. Marlon does NOT know how adults act outside of the walls of Ericson, he has no idea. He didn't give the twins away because he was "selfish". We've seen the raiders use guns and forceful methods to get what they want. If a bunch of ADULTS, are pointing GUNS at you- I know a kid would act under pressure. He didn't know how to properly deal with the situation, so he gave in to the adult. A lot of kids give in to the adults when they're under immense pressure. Possibly, the twins went willingly too, to avoid the problems seeing how ruthless the raiders are. Marlon blamed himself after that for not doing more to fight back, so he blamed himself for "giving them away". And are we also going to ignore he WANTED to stage a rescue for the twins?? That's all I'm going to say about it. We need to stop judging Marlon as if he was an adult, and more like a kid. Because in the end, that's what he was. A scared kid.
