to that time I ran a marathon with @_elizabeth_j_kelly_
on an island in the middle of Lake Superior. What an adventure! And what a lesson in hardships, persistence, and overcoming obstacles. (This picture was obviously taken prior to the hardship part. 😉) Thanks @_elizabeth_j_kelly_
for always sticking by my side, especially when I need it most. 💕
Doing challenges for charity gives me personal gain as well as the satisfaction of helping people who need more than I do. I will be posting stories, experiences and evidence of the impact my participation has made.
Budapest Marathon 2018 - Action Against Hunger (529 children positively impacted from collective total raised)
Post-rain hot & humid easy miles this morning w/boo. Excited that we’ve got a cold front coming in this weekend though and my run on Saturday morning will be in the upper 40’s/low 50’s!! Yay for that🙌🏻Gotta pull out the cold weather gear that rarely gets used!!🥶That Florida life. I get to use the heat this weekend🥰while Christmas decorating!
Also, wanted to give a shoutout to the Strong Finish athletes that raced over the weekend. Jillian ran the Richmond, VA marathon (her 5th) in 3:37! And while this wasn't her fastest time (although a great time!), I am always proud of this girl and she knows it! Lindsay met her sub 30 min 5k goal and she's hungry for more! Chelsea placed 3rd in her age group at her 5 miler in Boston! Hillary ran a 2+ min course PR at the Syracuse half on Sunday running a 1:38 with 410 ft elevation gain, snow & wind ending her fall 2018 racing season on a high note after having a foot injury earlier this year, came back and earned both 10k and half marathon PR's this year! Onto planning her spring season now!💕💕💕
Over the last four years I have worked on various UK and international volunteering and fundraising projects, focusing on water cleanliness, sanitation, food aid and livelihoods; among others.

Four years ago I signed up to a crazy challenge of trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro and I've never looked back. This page is to document some of those adventures.

A few days late, but finally got to wear my #marinecorpsmarathon
running shirt in honor of all who served and serve our country! I am grateful to live in the United States and for the freedom to do things like run marathons. I get choked up when we sing the National anthem before a race because I know how lucky I am to live in a country where this is all possible! Thank you to all who keep us safe 💕 #marines #freedom #twentysixpointtwo #phillymarathon #neverstopever #trimafia #goaldigger
3 sleeps to go...🏃🏻♀️🚀👊🏻
The most gorgeous red just released in the best-selling All Star Bra and brand new Red Chill Leggings 🥰
Any local peeps running the @reindeerfunrun
? 🙋🏻♀️ THIS is for you! 🏃🏾♀️🏃🏼♂️
Morning mileage: 6 easy. This distance/intensity is actually my most common run as a marathon runner. My “easy” pace fluctuates since I run by feel. It has slowly picked up in pace throughout the course of my running and tends to slow down as mileage ramps up (mileage is currently relatively low so I expect this to slow down during my build.) Keepin’ on with that mileage build, slowly but surely. 🙌
An easy 5 miles + some strides. ✅ One more short run tomorrow and a shakeout on Saturday, then it’s go time! Hard to believe that another training cycle will be coming to an end. Back in the summer, I highly considered skipping Philly this year. I had a hard time getting back into training mode and just felt I needed a break, both physically and mentally. But always in the back of mind, I had a fear that once race week came, I’d have a serious case of FOMO. And man, I was right! I’m so glad I decided to go for it and will toe the starting line on Sunday. Marathon training is hard, but it’s such a gratifying feeling knowing you put in the work and can put it all out there on race day.
Plus, I love the week leading up to the race and am so glad I’m here. I like to reflect back on all my workouts and see how much progress I’ve made over the past few months. I remind myself of the tough workouts I got through which will hopefully give me the push I need in the race. I love putting my playlist together - it’s serious business and I’m very methodical about it. 😆 I enjoy a few cryotherapy sessions (yes, you read that right - I do actually enjoy them!) and compression boots. And last but not least, I love carb loading! I mean, who doesn’t love that part?! 🍝🍚🥨🥖🍌 On a side note, as soon as I got into the car after this run, Owen’s song, Yellow, was on the radio, and I took it as a sign from him, reminding me he’s always with me. 👼🏼💙 He’s the reason I started running, and he’s the reason I’m ready to run my 6th marathon in just a few days. And how ironic, I’m going to see the Coldplay documentary that’s only in theaters for one tonight. I don’t think it’s all just coincidence. 🌈
Happy hump day friends! Hope you’re all having a great week! 😊 #marathontraining #philadelphiamarathon #taper #tapertime #carbloading #rest #recovery #instarunners #runnersofinstagram #runningmom #marathoner #marathonmom #marathonrunner #womensrunning #runnersworld #igrunners #run #running #runit #26point2 #twentysixpointtwo #girlswhorun #runlikeagirl #dream #believe #achieve #prchaser #goals #noexcuses #getitdone

Face your fears lovey. I promise it’s worth it. 💕
I am still on a runners high after the Rock n’ Roll Vegas Marathon!
Under a 4 hour marathon//PR 23 minutes ✅
Race report for those interested:
Race morning: this was the first major or longer race I have ever ran at nighttime. I still had all of the normal race morning jitters but this time they were there ALL DAY.
Starting line- Mile 14: it was amazing and surreal to be standing on the Las Vegas strip with no cars and so many people in one place to run! I got excited once it was our time to take off and it was great to run the first little bit of the race with John, before parting he reminded me to slow down and we wished each other a great race 🏃🏼♀️❤️🏃🏼♂️ (he was right and I was running a little to fast so I slowed down and kept myself at a steady pace to stay on track for a 4 hour pace or just a little faster). There were live bands that were all awesome and made running the first half go by so quickly! We left the half marathoners at mile 11- Elvis was there to greet the marathon runners and I remember him saying “stupid people to the right (marathoners) and half marathon/reasonable people to the left” 😂. I still felt good at this point but also thought for a minute that it would be nice to be done in just 2 more miles!
Mile 14-17: this area included several loops in and out of the Vegas marketplace with techno/rap/lights: I freaking loved this part of the race solely for the music and it made me want to dance 💃🏼 Mile 17-20: mile 17 is where I felt like complete garbage my first marathon and where I had to start run walking, I was so excited when I got to this point and felt like I could keep this pace and make it to 20 miles without needing to walk. I also had a great conversation with a SEVENTY year old man who was keeping pace with me the entire time (#motivation
). At mile 20 I ate my go-go and gave myself a pep talk
21-24: ok, these miles were HARD- they took place in what felt like a time warp in an outdoor venue area. These miles looped in and out of each other so it was hard to tell who was coming or going or when you were ever going to get out.
My marathon last weekend was my second attempt to BQ in Nevada. Less than 2 years ago I ran the Red Rock Canyon Marathon which was a beast!!! That was my slowest marathon to date and of course I missed qualifying for Boston, but to be honest, it didn’t bother me as much. The course was so beautiful that I felt blessed to experience such beauty. Then I decided to go back to Nevada to redeem myself at the Rock’N’Roll Las Vegas. I’m not ashamed to say, that night I almost quit on my #bq50states
goal. I was so mentally out of it from running this joke of a marathon course that my body was also giving up. I bq’d with 5 minutes to spare but let’s face it, I was only a cramp away from failing at my goal. I consider myself a mentally strong runner but that night I was weak, almost ready to give up. The only thing that kept me pushing was how would I explain this to my kids? I never want them to think that their mom is a quitter.

Three years ago I woke up in the most beautiful house on the beach in California. You could hear the waves crashing, the sun was rising, and I couldn’t believe I was in real life. I couldn’t believe what was up next that day either, headshots! I remember FaceTiming Kolby Kallweit crying because I didn’t know how to process any of this.☀️ I didn’t pay for this trip, I didn’t buy my way in. I had EARNED it by helping people change the course of their lives through health and fitness. ☀️ I was so scared to join as a coach. I had so many concerns about what other people would think because “I had a good job”. I felt that tug at my heart ( ohhh hi God, thanks for the nudge) and put my fear aside. I knew it could change my life and I was aligning my goals with a company I believed in. ☀️
The honest answer to if I fail? I’d lose nothing.
I had workouts that were working, I’d still be a nurse, and I had new friends that truly supported me. Soooo.. I’d literally lose nothing.
That’s exactly what the opportunity is for anyone who wants to give it a try.
It’s not risky.
It’s not not hard.
It’s not expensive. (Please some MLMs START at $1200-$1500, not this one.) It’s an investment in your health. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Turn those excuses into reasons and manifest success in HELPING women feel confident in their bodies and find exercise they love. 💕
Also, the potential to change your life physically and financially is right in front of you. 😘
If any of this hits home, you know where to find me. 💕💌💌
18 degrees = time to pull the balaclava out of storage 🌬⛄️ Today’s run was the first time I focused on heart rate, rather than speed or time. I’ve been interested in heart rate training for quite a while but didn’t fully understand it — luckily, @marathonacademy
just came out with a great episode all about the topic, so I felt ready to try it out. You calculate your maximum aerobic heart rate by subtracting your age from 180. So my MAF is 154. That means I don’t want my BPM to exceed 154 during a run — the idea is that by slowing down, you build your aerobic base and your body learns to burn fat, instead of sugar, for fuel. Over time, you should see your pace go down while still maintaining the same heart rate. Sounds pretty cool, right? I’m excited to try it out and see how it works! For today’s run, my average BPM was 149, so I was in a good range for my 154 goal. 💓 Have a great Wednesday, friends! 🏃🏻♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I 100% did NOT want to workout today. I actually complained about it most of the day. 🙅🏻♀️#RealTalk
Then I remembered working out isn’t a MF punishment it’s a gift.
I checked in with my bootcamp babes and got my ass upstairs. I didn’t change clothes or put shoes on but I did Shift Shop day 1/21 and I’m freaking proud of myself. And guess what?! I had fun!
What are you waiting for girl?!
Time? Make it.
Space? It doesn’t take much.
Belief? You have it in you.
Support? I’m right here. 💜
I know I missed #medalmonday
but I wanted to share this anyway. When I ran my first marathon last year I honestly thought I would never do that distance again. It sucked so much out of me, I was afraid it would dim the fire for running. After a long break I decided to give marathon distance a try again but this time I trained differently, ate differently, remembered to enjoy my runs and focused on the important. After running two marathons this fall, both within four weeks of each other, I am absolutely addicted to marathon running. The plan is to enjoy a few months of rest, work on strength and commit to something big in the Spring. Looking forward to where marathon number 4 ends up taking me. ☺️ #runnersofinstagram #irunthisbody #irun #runhappy

Last night I had a blast celebrating @mamaruns365
‘s milestone of 365 days of running with fellow runners, almost all of whom I met through Instagram. I was just thinking how funny it was that if it weren’t for social media, I probably would never have met this awesome group (or any of the other people I’ve met from across the country). Today however, I was introduced to a very negative side of the instarunning world that I didn’t even know existed. Negative is putting it nicely, because the comments I read in the 5 minutes I wasted on the site were disgusting. It’s one thing to have an opinion about someone or their training but to post it on a site ripping them apart, mocking how they look/talk/act, hoping they get injured, wishing for them to have a bad race, and being happy when they do, all while hiding behind your screen? Pathetic. I graduated from high school a long time ago and left that kind of drama there. 🙄. Usually I ignore these kinds of things when I do see them, but this one struck a nerve because of seeing friends’ names on the site. I’ve been fortunate enough to have had almost only supportive experiences using social media and I feel blessed for all of the wonderful and supportive people I’ve meet through here. Choosing to focus on those positives rather than a few bitter people on a forum.

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. Consistency.💜I enjoy training with intention. Day after leg day. Split this up into 3 miles at 6:30 before the girls woke up and then 6 more with Sean (the new half Ironman finisher since Sunday!) at 8:30 after I got the girls to school. All easy pace for about another 4 weeks until I start my Boston training. I will have plenty of time to run fast Dec-April. For now, it’s all about muscle building, strength, endurance and base building.🖤💕
➰➰➰Have a great Tuesday, y’all!! Hope to get my Christmas decorations down from the attic this weekend and start decorating! Too early? Don’t care! I like to enjoy them as long as possible. Growing up, my Dad’s birthday was Nov 23 which always fell around Thanksgiving and we couldn’t decorate until after. Well, I’m an adult and I make my own traditions😜Although it does feel different living in FL and Christmas Day can be 90 degrees sometimes.🤷🏻♀️When do YOU like to start decorating for the holidays?
and it's another marathon medal to add to my collection. Running the #StripatNight
was quite an experience which I'm glad my brother and sister got to enjoy too. They signed up for the 10k in support my craziness and love for running.
The hardest part of this race (any distance) isn't the course, time of day or coldness of the night. It's the many things you could do in Vegas that alter your game plan. This included a pre-run concert with #CapitalCities
which meant no warm up routine. Also, the runner perks are worth taking advantage of and there are so many to choose from!
Some of the best moments of the race was starting on the strip, running to the welcome to Las Vegas sign to turn back and run the strip, head to downtown to Fremont Street, and eventually make my way back to finish on the strip to wave to my brother and sister cheering me on.
That's 2/15 for my monthly marathoning clocking at 3:35:08 and I'm ready for the next one on the list. This also makes my 3rd state. CA, MD and NV down!
Next up: Rock n Roll San Antonio
This year has been about challenging myself, saying yes and doing things I normally would not, living a life with no fear, and learning to love myself. I wanted 30 to be a year to remember, so I chose this year to cross a marathon off my bucket list. One of my friends @christina.shahan
decided to join me and I’m so glad I didn’t have to do it alone! She’s the best! :) Some how I chose the “Toughest marathon in Texas” to do as our first marathon. Go big or go home! But we survived it, gazillion hills and cattle guards in all. I wasn’t able to push myself like I normally do because I was battling a cold which is 10 times worse now, but I had one goal, and that was to finish. Thank you @tejastrails
for putting on a great race with amazing volunteers. 🖤 This will not be my last race with y’all! I told myself I was done running long distances but deep down I’m already thinking about an ultra. There’s just something about running, it changes you, challenges you, comforts you, and keeps you coming back for more. #tejastrails #hillcountrytrivium #marblefallstx #marathoncomplete #twentysixpointtwo #30andthriving #runnerlife #garminfitness
"Defend the weak and the fatherless." Psalm 82:3
It started several years ago as a way to run for more than just checking off a bucket list item. As we head into our 4th fundraising race cycle, we are honored to partner with yet another organization in our quest and calling to run for those who cannot.
More than 16,000 children in Florida are removed from their homes each year due to abandonment, abuse, and neglect. They need loving and stable homes. .
Florida Baptist Children's Home exists to change the lives of children and families through Christ-centered services. Their vision is to bring hope to hurting children, to show that the love of Jesus changes lives, and to impact the life of One More Child. Whether it’s providing clean diapers to a newborn baby, food for a hungry child, safety for an abused child, or foster or adoptive homes to children in crisis, they work to share with children who have been abused, neglected and abandoned the protective and healing love of Jesus.
Marcos and I are running to raise funds specifically for Florida Baptist Children's Home Miami and their residential care cottages. We will once again run in the Miami Marathon, which takes place on January 27, 2019. Marcos will be running the full marathon of 26.2 miles, and I will be running the half-marathon at 13.1 miles. This year, we have the privilege of having our oldest son join us, as he runs the half-marathon with his momma. Marcos' 20 week training in preparation for the race began in September, while the 13 week half-marathon training began in late October. Our training consists of two strength training sessions, along with two weekly short runs and one long run, which slowly grows until race day, preparing us for our respective distances.
Please consider joining us - no donation is too small! **See link in bio** As is our tradition, all those who give will have the opportunity to "run" with us by having your names written on our race day shirts. .
"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35
