Today's mood is “Friday I'm in love” of The Cure so I write it before Ride's Weather Diaries.
I’ve been listening to this song for 20 years ago and it is a song that I want to remember from time to time.
British rock band, The Cure, was formed in the 1970s and is categorized as a genre of punk, new wave, gothic rock. The appearance of vocal Robert Smith is dark, gothic and very charismatic. The band is still active at present.
“Friday I'm in love” is one of the song in the album “Wish” released in 1992.
I don’t know the genre well, but it seems to be classified as Jungle Pop.
I quote from Wikipedia as follows.
Jangle pop is a subgenre of pop rock that emphasizes trebly, ringing guitars (usually 12-string electrics) and 1960s-style pop melodies. While the Everly Brothers and the Searchers laid the foundations for the style, the Beatles and the Byrds are commonly credited with launching the popularity of the "jangly" sound that defined the genre.
The reason why I love this song is the catcher melody, glittering guitar and lyrics.
Starting out with "I do not care if Monday's blue", This lyric grab my gloomy Monday mind.
The lyrics are going on Tuesday, Wednesday, finally falling in love on Friday! But it may be good to replace “falling in love” with other words in our brain. For example on Friday I do eat something delicious food.
Today is Blue Monday, let's do our best this week!
This is an excerpt of "Friday I'm in love".
I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday I'm in love
