Some days you have a good day on the farm... other days not so much.
Lately I have had a rash of bad days. Days when you are tired of digging tiny graves. Days when I question what we do and why we do it.
Surely it must be easier to just say screw it and go to the grocery store. But on the other end of that grocery store line there is a farmer like me pondering the same thing.
Thankfully today was a good day. The bees look healthy and well prepared to go into winter. I had a sick chick I was preparing to put down that made a turn for the better and returned to gen pop from the sick bay. My transplants and winter greens are thriving after a battle with caterpillars... all in all I am one happy farmer.
So CHEERS to the good days.

“HyCube produce is unlike anything else. People talk about working with farms that are 50 or 100 miles from their hotel, but we're harvesting produce within 50 feet of our restaurants.” - Eric Martinez, Executive Chef, @orlandoworldcenter.
Hey ewe! We need volunteers to help us prepare our winter home at the Normanskill Farm this coming Sunday, 10/28 starting at 10 am! We’ll be doing some light construction work, so wear work gloves and bring battery powered tools if you can.
Email us at email@example.com
if you have questions. 🐑❤️💪🛠
I can’t believe it’s only been 3 weeks since I started these from seeds! I’m already planning a blog about how easy this really is.
HOMEwork. Painting & installing 192’ of new baseboards today in this wonderful old house 🔨
Ahhh feel soo behind for spring. Going to take this weekend off and get hard into it. Feel like there is nothing to pick at except a couple of lettuces and edible flowers at the moment. Got lots of seedlings growing but have had so many set backs. What are my subtropical homies harvesting!? 😁🌿🌸
Chris helped trim the apple tree so that it may grow in a healthy direction. :

On Thursday 25/10 (11am-12.30), Sally Nowlan will be launching her new book, ‘Jumbuck’s Misadventure’ at Collingwood Children’s Farm! This beautifully illustrated story for young readers is about a clever pet sheep whose curiosity gets him into trouble when he opens the farm gate. It's a story with a happy ending and a powerful message - 'be kind to all animals’. You’ll be able to meet the author, listen to storytelling and cuddle lambs!
We’ve been wearing plastic gloves to keep our hands warm while harvesting 😊 These are beautiful French breakfast radishes #farmerhands #radishes #citygrown

Big thanks to @ajustharvest
and Tonia for hosting a group of Northwestern students last Friday! .
.Students worked in the hoop house on multiple projects. They learned how to use power tools, helped rat-proof, dismantled a compost container and saved lumber to be refurbished for shelving.
I found some #fava
beans in my shed and I tossed them into a tray. They’ve started popping up and I transplanted out.
This is why we grow. This is my first time growing #roselle
and it is finally budding! They are all over the plants and I can’t wait.
