What's to eat... I'm starving is a common theme in most households combined with 'there's no food to eat'. It doesn't seem to matter how much fresh food is gathered or how long you labour transforming this into delicious meals or treats. Most want hunger pangs satisfied with instant gratification and if preparation is needed, forget it!!!⠀
So how do you overcome this and get them on board & #bringbackrealfood 🙄 it's a gradual process, stick with it and soon enough they'll get it 💛⠀
✔️ be a role model, lead by example - it's important to explain how food impacts health⠀
✔️ don't buy junk and eliminate processed foods where possible or opt for minimally processed alternatives- if there's a long list of ingredients/any you don't recognise = ditch it! 🌿⠀
✔️ plan ahead by buying ingredients you can quickly transform into snacks or meals (think bananas for cookies, avocado for guacamole, yoghurt for dips and parfaits, carrots and cucumbers for dippers, potatoes for wedges, fresh fruit for smoothies...)⠀
✔️ prep ahead - e.g. have plenty fresh fruit and veggies available and cut them up and store them in jars in the fridge to ensure they'll be eaten 🍓🍌🍏 make overnight oats, chia pudding, pre make rice or quinoa, make your own trail mix etc⠀
✔️ teach them how to bring it together and make stuff (this is a win win for you - less time in the kitchen plus you enjoy what they make)⠀
What steps or changes have you made to instil positive food choices in your house? 💛👇🏻⠀
Sorry I’ve been MIA. Posting from Europe just doesn’t seem to happen for me. Anyhow I was back in SoCal for a few days and my first stop from LAX was Sage Cafe.
We ordered Buffalo Cauliflower (of course - one of the best), fried coconut “calamari” damn was this good! Jackfruit “tuna” melt, Eggplant Parmesan sandwich, Eggplant Parmesan pizza and Cauliflower piccata. Boy were we hungry and everything was so good!
As our chef says YUMMY - keep it light ...vegetarian and vegan breakfast options now available.

Cruelty free Sheppy P!! This Shepard’s pie was soooo delish!!! High in protein, fibre and minerals from allll de lentils. Want to make?
- Fry onions and carrots for 15 mins
- Add dried lentils, vegan bouillon stock in boiling water, a tin of tomatoes and tomato purée
- After ten mins of simmering add enough bisto ‘original’ gravy granules to make a brown thick sauce (around 3-4 tablespoons) and add peas. Add rosemary and a little pepper
- when the lentils are just about cooked add them to a dish with mashed potatoes (For the mash I make it with vegan butter, a dash of soy milk, salt and sprinkle of cheesy yeast flakes 😛
- Grate some vegan cheese and sprinkle pumpkin seeds on with and maybe a little more yeast flakes if you luuu dat shit like we so and cook in the oven for 30-40mins .... voila!!!
