That's because I like to add filling foods like beans and potatoes. Plus I always use a healthy fat like avocado or tahini on top which helps our bodies to absorb the nutrients better. I recently went to a Women of the World Luncheon where this Lebanese Turmeric Semolina cake was served. I fell in love with its slight sweetness and beautiful yellow color and had to make it myself! This cake is already virtually vegan in that it has no eggs and plant milk can easily be substituted for cow's milk. Lebanese Turmeric Cake 1 1/2 cups semolina 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp Turmeric 2 tsp baking powder 1 cup sugar 1 cup plant milk (I used almond) 1/2 cup oil Mix together all ingredients, let sit 5 minutes, then beat with an electric mixer for 5 minutes. Very important to mix for the full 5 minutes. Pour into greased 9"×9" pan Sprinkle top with almond slivers or pine nuts Bake at 350 for 30 minutes Enjoy!

Even now, after I trained I still feel guilty! 🏊🏻‍♀️ ••• Rest days about incredibly vital for any fitness journey as that time allows our bodies to heal 😷 ••• When you perform excessive amounts of exercise without proper rest and recovery you may experience some harmful side effects including decreased performance, fatigue, altered hormonal states, poor sleeping patterns, reproductive disorders, decreased immunity, loss of appetite, and mood swings 🤯 ••• Time off should never come with shameful feelings. My food posts have been MIA 🤭 Life has brought a lot of changes lately, good and bad! I’m living them up, and have had no time to cook 🤦🏼‍♀️ Peanut butter banana toast has been my go-to lately😂 but today I had time and decided I wanted something different! ✨ TROPICAL OATMEAL with lots of AB, granola, and homemade lemon yogurt🍋🥭🍌🍓 So yum and refreshing. I just used 1/4c oats, almond milk, 1/2 a v ripe banana, and about 1/2 of frozen tropical fruits (dragonfruit, mango, pineapple, and strawbs) then topped with the yummy toppings. Seriously, yogurt in oatmeal is so good 😋🥰 ✨ No protein powder today, it just didn’t sound good🤷🏼‍♀️ which is TOTALLY OK!! It is so much more important to get your micronutrients in than it is to eat so much protein your kidneys explode 🌿

eat👏 your👏water This midday meal is full of it! Cut up a couple carrots, throw them on low in a skillet to soften them up. While they cook, slice up half a bell pepper, half an onion, and a bunch of celery. Throw the onions in, and a couple minutes later add the rest of the veggies. I made a peanut sauce for this stir fry out of peanut butter, soy sauce, and ginger that I heated, mixed, and poured on the skillet veggies. So much fiber and water in this dish. I’m trying to tone at the gym, and this is a dish I’ll make more regularly to keep me full without having a ton of calories. Sometimes all it takes is a gentle reminder to appreciate how far you've come. Lemme explain -- when I first started my fitness journey at about 220lbs, I wasn't able to hold a plank position. It literally took MONTHS of training before I could (barely) manage a 20 second plank. So days like today when I get down on myself for struggling through this plank circuit (swipe ⬅️ to check it out & destroy your abs 🔥), I think back to where I started to put things in perspective. I know it's easier to focus on how far we have to go to reach our goals rather than how far we've already come but that doesn't mean it's beneficial. Plus, if you're in it for the right reasons it's a journey that never really ends. ✌️🏽 ▪️ Execute each exercise for 30 seconds with no rest in between until you complete all 5. Repeat circuit 3-4 times.
