Meal wasn’t worth posting but take a look at my new 50 cent meal time investment: a placemat! Pigs are the coolest creatures! They are one of the smartest animals having the intellect of a 4 year old human. And like dogs they each have their own individual personality and hold long term memories to be able to form relationships with other animals and people. Society/culture have shaped our perceptions to view pigs as food, when in fact they deserve so much more. Imagine pigs being ‘normalised’ as pets in your backyard just like dogs (life goals haha). I doubt pig owners would be purchasing minced pig flesh or pig steaks if they had a beloved pet at home. There would be an uproar if ‘dog meat’ was a thing and an allowed practice in Australia. So why do we discriminate towards some animals (ie. cows, sheep, chickens, pigs) and not others (dogs, cats, Guinea pigs, horses)? Visit on you tube: ‘Gary Yourofsky - The most important speech you will ever hear’ caption says it all 👌

This week I'm revisiting an old recipe at Smith & Deli - James Hurley's Salty Tears! If you've ever wondered what James Hurley's tears taste like, wonder no more! In store it's just a plain old Salted Caramel Pretzel Shake, but if you know, you know. Enjoy scrolling through some pics ofJames looking sad! I love him and his tears a whole lot!
Oh, and James has ALWAYS been cool!

How can we save the world?
Restoring land once used for agriculture and cattle grazing is not as simple as just planting the same tree over and over.
Natural forests are complex structures that use many plants to shield and support one another.
However many forestry practises today use the former rather than the latter approach to restoring forests.
Dr. Ranil Senanayake created an approach to restoring forests that is both holistic and advantageous to people who depend on land for their living - it's called Analog Forestry.
This enlivening talk Sunday @lentilthornbury
4pm will explain how we can utilise this approach in Australia to turn barren fields back to bushland.
This is a free event with dips and drinks provided.
Ranil holds a PhD in Systems Ecology at U.C. Davis. He was a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne where he worked on the development of the Australian Land Care Strategy and taught Applied Forest Ecology at the Monash University at Melbourne. He developed the concept of Analog Forestry that has attracted a global network of practitioners. #savetheplanet

I'm a firm believer that walking is the best way to explore different cities. This can be difficult with young children but after 4.5 weeks now, it's tip time 😁 My boys have gone from standard Melbourne living (lots of car commute) to average 15K steps majority of this holiday.
Top tips for walking on holidays with kids:
1) Take water with you at all times, especially if it's warmer weather!
2) Show your kids a goal on the map. This helps them visualise where the journey starts and ends and helps them keep motivated.
3) Add pit stops on the way. My boys loved stopping for simit (Turkish bagels). It's a little recharge for their legs and energy too.
4) Make it enjoyable! Count the flags, statues, whatever it may be on the way.
] Roasted veggies w/ kale and pumpkin salad
There is nothing better than a warm salad and a good book on a #rainyday
1x bunch of kale
1/2x butternut pumpkin
Handful of dried raisins
Salt & pepper
Garlic infused olive oil
Prepare 3 x pans for roasting:
Pan1: Break broccoli into chunks and drizzle with ½ teaspoon of olive oil. Also drizzle 1x tablespoon of balsamic vinegar. Mix well and add in freshly chopped chillies.
Pan2: Slice pumpkin and drizzle with olive oil. Add salt and pepper.
Pan3: Slice eggplant and chop zucchini into chunks. Drizzle garlic infused olive oil and sprinkle harissa on eggplants.
Bake 3 pans at 180 degrees Celsius fan forced for 45min. Take broccoli out after 30min.
Once cooled, shred eggplant with fingers and toss all the ingredients with pre chopped kale that has been massaged with olive oil. Toss in dried raisins and add salt and pepper to taste.
