“We will be more successful in all our endeavors if we can let go of the habit of running all the time, and take little pauses to relax and re-center ourselves. And we'll also have a lot more joy in living.” — Thich Nhat Hanh.
I listened to a great podcast the other day. Dr. Andrew Weil on Tim Ferriss show. Dr. Weil prescribes 4-7-8 breathing for anxiety treatment. 3 rounds, twice a day. He says that’s all one has to do to see and feel real results.
It takes so little time, you can do it anywhere, and it is definitely easier than meditating!
Google Dr. Weil 4-7-8 and you’ll find tutorials.

Wellness Week at Buena High School.
I wish someone would have introduced me to the fundamentals of yoga at 17. I was lucky enough to have dance in my life through high school, but when I went off to college I lost my sense of movement and it took me about 5 years to find it again on a yoga mat.
It was 5 years with a loss of awareness of my own subtle body. I lost touch with my inner self and the subtle ways my body tells me I’m out of alignment. My movement practices have always been there as a sense of my therapy and at a pivotal moment in my life that was missing.
I’m so grateful to have been given the gift of yoga, even if it meant a period of discomfort.
Some might find the same things I do with dance + yoga through running, surfing, or any there movement practices.
What’s your movement therapy?

This morning I was feeling last than chipper. Not in a bad mood but just letting the silliness of life get to me.
I knew I needed to move past it so I turned a good playlist on. Music has this way of just shifting the present moment instantly.
It can drop me back into a moment of time.
It has the power to take a dull moment to an instant car party... windows up cuz I’m singing at full volume (and I probably don’t know the real words... like ever)
It can break my heart wide open in both the painful sense or the sense of over joyous.
But most importantly it gives me the freedom to move. Slow songs or upbeat tempos. It shifts my yoga practice or in an instant I’m dancing in my house when that beat is right.
Music is a vibration. It actually has the power to find us where we are and shift our vibration up or down. It’s so important that we are in tune with where we are and know energetically what it is we need... not just what’s mindlessly droning on the radio for the 30x today. If you don’t already, start to tune into how music affects your mood. All music is art, but sometimes a different flavor would best match what we need.
So when you see my silly IG story dance parties it’s because the song I needed found me and I could feel it down into my bones!!
