Diego Curtaz took the reins of the family estate from his grandfather in 1981. Located in the central, northern area of Valle d’Aosta in northwestern Italy, the tiny estate consists of only 1.6 hectares of vines.
He uses natural and organic methods in both the vineyard and cellar.
Dark red-violet in colour with aromas of wild strawberry, black cherry, baking spices and white pepper.
Jammy black currant, blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, plum and cranberry are complimented by crushed black peppercorn, graham cracker, smoky herbs, traces of burnt caramel and fresh acidity. Silky tannins fuse with dark fruit, baking chocolate and ancho chili on the plush finish.
An engaging sip of saturated layers of ripe fruit, smoky herbs and alluring spices.
Molto Gracie to @peterm__99
For introducing me to such a gorgeous wine, second vintage in a row🥂
Generally 50% Petite Rouge with the balance being a blend of local high-altitude varieties such as Cornalin, Fumin, Mayolet, Vien de Nus and Gamay
