Hiking the Narrows means wading in the Virgin river to see the spectacular canyon walls thousands of feet high and only 25' wide in some areas in Zion canyon. Hiking it in February meant no crowds and only seeing 12 people along the way. But, the water was frigid and needed a dry suit, special canyoneering boots for the slippery rocks and neoprene socks to insulate our feet from the cold. When hiking it in October a couple years ago, we were able to wear shorts with the canyoneering boots but there were hundreds of people hiking it with us. Which would you do?
For your entertainment, here are our finest wipeouts from skimboarding in St George last weekend. My personal favorites are the Double Person Wipeout and The Assist 😂 We actually improved quite a bit by the end! It’s a blast to try new things! Skimboarding is the best! #trysomethingnew #skimboarding #stgeorge #virginriver #brothers
Tuesday was my seventh time exploring this phenomenal place i spent the day experiencing the east side of Zion which was a different experience for me. I just cannot get enough of Zion National Parks surreal beauty!!
The Narrows - Virgin River. It’s the narrowest section of Zion Canyon. The beautiful walls of the canyon get up to 1000 ft tall. You hike in knee deep cold water almost the entire time, sometimes reaching waist deep! The whole river bottom is nothing but big round rocks. It’s kind of like walking on wet bowling balls lol Each bend in the canyon just gets more and more breathtakingly beautiful! We started from the bottom and worked our way up as far as we wanted. Unforgettable.✨
with my family was pretty amazing & I’m so glad we got up early to make one of the first shuttles in. I knew that Zion would be crowded, but I never expected to see so many tour buses full of people. National Parks are amazing & such a great way for families to love & explore nature while learning about the land at the same time...but it is nice when you have the chance to experience it without a crowd. Plus when the trail is a river you know it’s going to be epic.
