Every weekend it seems like I've been traveling to Manhattan. Probably since I'm sick of feeling trapped/isolated in one place for too long (AKA grad school all day Mon-Thurs); it's like a little escape from the reality of having a routine. This particular trip, though, was a very special one. My mom the night before said, "Shan, you wanna bring me around the city tomorrow? I have a free day." It was so sweet and sincere, an invitation that I was excited to say yes to. And I felt flattered in a way - given that I'm probably the worst tour guide EVER. Other people can attest to that fact. It was a memorable day nonetheless. We went to one of my favorite places, Union Square Park, and then we re-connected with our Italian roots by eating in Little Italy downtown, and topped it off by going to Bryant Park at night (of course with some shopping in between these places. I don't want to bore everyone with every detail). It was a special day because although right now I'm struggling to find new people to explore with and simply fellowship with (I've been praying about it! God knows my every need and desire), you can never forget your family. Family is always first. My momma will always be my number one, my best friend. I'll never forget this day. Thanks momma. And thanks, New York, for never boring me. 💕
